What is a cheap yet nice hotel in Chicago that isn’t to far from the some of the museums?

by Travel Guru on July 2, 2009

I am going to be going in the summer, I only need one room. I’m heading there to check out a college I want to go to and see some of the museums. Also how do I know where the subway runs and such?

You can stay at a hostel. Hostling International had a place right in the middle of downtown, smack dab in the center of everything. It’s close to public transportation, Michigan Ave (Art Institute), and the other museums (Field Museusm, Adler Planetarium, Shedd Aqarium.) You can get a room there for less than $40 a night. And no, it’s not some sleazy flophouse. Hostels are popular around the world, mostly with young backpackers who want to save their money for partying rather than a room they may spend a few hours a day in. There is a link below.

As far as the subways, go to the Chicago Transit Authority website. They have a map showing subway/elevated train lines.
