Record Weather Conditions through an Outdoor Thermometer

by Susan Doyle on March 18, 2010

Purchasing an outdoor thermometer is a great method of watching the weather without having to go outside. Sensors may be positioned throughout the garden and also the home. The readings are then transmitted to a receiver wirelessly which presents the temperature readings acquired from each sensor.

An outdoor thermometer can be an extension of any computerized automated home control system. Sensors located in garden glasshouses can be configured to trigger heaters when the ambient temperature drops close to freezing point. Also, air conditioning can be set to come on when the home gets to hot.

Pressure and humidity sensors are also available in systems like this. Check the functions of a model before purchasing a system. A more advanced system may be required if you wish to monitor all aspects of your home’s weather conditions. Commonly the units provide a transmitting range of up to 100 ft, which can work for an average sized home.

Whether you are ready to include a wide array of sensors or not, it is prudent to select a model which has the capacity to allow additional environmental sensors to be purchased at a later date. You never know if you will want to expand your gadgets, and it is better to have the functionality, than to have to sell your unit and buy again from scratch.

How the system will be powered is another consideration. Some will require batteries while other can be powered with your home’s electricity. The sensors will also need power, so verify the requirements. Consider solar powered sensors which can decrease battery or electricity costs. Be sure to read the instructions before you install your new equipment.

First, each sensor and the base will need to be powered. Some type of calibration will likely be necessary and the time will need to be set for the clocks. You will also need to synchronize the base and the sensors preferably before you place them where they need to be.

When all of the sensors are working, choose suitable spots around the home and garden. The units should not be located in direct sunlight as this will give erroneous readings, and remember that you will have to change the batteries from time to time. Placing them in easy to reach spots is a good idea. After you are finished, you can then monitor many weather conditions all from inside your home.

Winter Shoe #2: Comfortable ladies dress shoes. In the course of the holiday season, you’re likely to attend a few events that require you to dress up. Finding Weather Information For Travelers: Business And Personal

by Andy Riverzaint on February 1, 2010

After years of saving and many months of flipping through travel brochures, your family has finally selected the perfect spot for your next vacation. The funds, which are stored in a giant piggy bank, are more than you thought you could accumulate so you are not skimping on any parts of the trip. Anticipation is high among all family members. Sadly when you get to your holiday retreat, it is pouring rain. And it doesn’t stop storming for the duration of your stay, preventing you from enjoying all those outdoor activities. This may have been prevented with a little research into weather information for travelers.

Travel for business can also be ruined by bad weather. Companies spend lots of money each year on business related travel. Client meetings, sales presentations and employee functions can all be scheduled better with a little research into weather related conditions for a particular time of year. Otherwise, companies run the risk of not only wasting money, but also suffering from lost sales and poor productivity from employees.

Business travelers can reschedule meetings if weather necessitates. If traveling by air, much valued time can be saved by checking the flight status with the airlines. Knowing about delays and cancellations before reaching the airport means less time sitting around in the airport.

Being mindful of weather has some practical advantages. For example, knowing before you pack what the weather is going to be can prevent you from loading up on tee-shirts when sweaters are what you need. Moreover, who wants to dig into the vacation budget or expense account by buying clothes that you already have at home. Also, knowing ahead of time what the weather may have in store allows you to amend your vacation schedule and so arrange different activities.

Any extended automobile travel requires careful attention to the weather. Running into dangerous road conditions because of a freak snowstorm without snow tires, blankets, flares, food and water, first aid kit, and a flashlight could be a recipe for disaster. One recommendation for motorists is to call 511 to get the latest updates on traffic conditions negatively impacted by the weather.

Weather conditions can have a negative impact on outdoor adventure plans. Hiking and camping for example may be not only unpleasant should foul weather join you; it can also be dangerous. Plan for the worst and bring the right equipment for emergencies.

It is not hard these days to research the weather. Weather trends can be easily found online for pretty much anywhere in the world. You can do your initial planning based on likelihoods of weather patterns. Then as you get closer to the date, you can check on weather status. An internet search for ‘weather conditions’ will provide lots of matches of sites that are devoted to weather. While traveling, you can stay on top of conditions via wireless laptops and smart phones. And of course there are always TV weather reports, radio information and newspapers’ weather sections.

Common sense is the most important thing to use when traveling. A little inconvenient rain that interrupts a scheduled picnic is one thing. Traveling into incessant inclement weather and dealing with it for the duration of a trip is another thing. The best thing to do is monitor the weather closely as your travel date arrives and have back up plans. If your vacation can’t be rescheduled, at least do what you can to make the most of what the weather will be.

When you decide to check the weather, you should use the Web. You can see the weather any time at all hours of the day and even accurate. So, the next time you travel, you will know if you will be stuck in a bad storm or blizzard.

A Beginners Guide To Handle Extreme Temperature Conditions

by James Weir on August 28, 2009

A cyclist needs to prepare for extreme temperature conditions, before starting his bicycling tour. People who live in East direction experience extreme range of temperatures. They are required to cope up with the freezing conditions of the snow-covered poles. Similarly, they need to deal with the extreme hot of the deserts. A freaky snowstorm can make the cyclist feel awfully rough and he needs to take some extra precautions to protect himself. On the other hand, extreme heat temperature condition can be as dangerous as snow.

The Russian Antarctic station had recorded the lowest temperature ever and it had reported an air temperature of 87.4 degree Celsius. 87.4 degree Celsius means minus 125 degree Fahrenheit. This is the extremely cold temperature condition. In turn, the extremely hot temperature is experienced in the desert regions of the world. The highest degree ever recorded is 50 degree Celsius, which means 122 degree Fahrenheit.

Though there are two extreme temperature conditions prevalent in the world, most of the people need not actually experience both of such temperatures. In fact, it is not essential for a person in cold climate region to experience the hot weather in the deserts and vice versa. However, there are very few people, who experience both extremely cold and extremely hot temperature conditions.

A cyclist can experience extreme temperature conditions during one race itself. For instance, if he plans for a Tour de France, the temperature condition is generally more than 30 degree Celsius, which is equal to 86 degree Fahrenheit. He may also need to experience extreme cold condition like 5 to 10 degree Celsius, which is equal to 41 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. If a cyclist plans to reach the top of the high mountains like the Col du Galiber and the Col d’ Aubisque, he may come across a range of extreme temperature conditions.

As a cyclist needs to go through hot and cold temperature conditions, he needs to undergo training to cope up with such extreme temperature conditions. If he does not have enough training to deal with different temperatures, he would not be able to get success in his cycling tour. If his body fails to adapt to the climatic conditions in the region, where he needs to travel, he may need to face more problems. It is therefore crucial to get sufficient training, before starting his journey. He can even read more instructions from the web to get clear understanding about how to cope with large temperature variations.

What weather should i expect in Thailand in mid October?

by Travel Guru on April 27, 2009

Hi there! I am planning to go to Thailand – to Bangkok & to a beach in mid Oct. What weather can I expect? I read in travel guides that it is monsoon season in Oct. But does it really rains a lot or just a heavy rain for a hour? I would not mind if it just rains for an hour or so. But i do not want to be locked up in a hotel because of rain. I wonder if i should reschedule the vacation?
