After the first trip, many visitors come back again and again. So what does Thailand offer that keeps people coming back for more? Tranquil beaches, culture, exciting entertainment, and great destinations.

Whatever part of Thailand you decide to visit, you will find yourself enjoying your trip. There is a wide variety of geography in Thailand that can give you many different travel experiences. In the north of Thailand is the mountain territory. Lush green forests and hilly terrain mixed in with quiet rural towns make it a must see location. Issan, or the North Eastern territory is a flat plain known for rice growing and agriculture. The eastern part of Thailand is know for it’s grand forests. If you are looking for lush tropical islands and glorious beaches than the southern part of Thailand is for you.

Not only is Thailand known for it’s diverse geography, but it also has a large amount of multi-cultural influences as well. A large Chinese influx in the early years of the Siamese empire has left a profound Chinese influence on the culture. Bangkok has a large China Town, and the impact can also be seen in the food and architecture. In addition, Thailand also adopted a lot of western ways and ideals during the early 20th Century that make it a very enjoyable country for Europeans and Americans to visit.

Thailand has also become well know throughout the world for it’s wild nightlife. Some of the major destinations for tourists seeking fun and crazy night time entertainment is Bangkok, Pattaya, and Phuket. They have a wide mix of high-end discos, bars, and gogo clubs. It is a very cosmopolitan atmosphere, combined with some world class naughtiness.

Thailand is also a very modern country in terms of infrastructure. Transportation and technological advances have been implemented across the country. Many western countries could learn a thing or two from the public transportation that Thailand has on offer. There are many buses, taxi, airlines, and even the sky train to take you around Bangkok. To make things easier for most tourists, there are signs posted in both Thai and English around the major tourist areas.

There are many more things that make Thailand one great place to visit while on holiday. In addition to those listed above, there are beautiful beaches, temples, and many historic areas to visit. It is a country that will keep you coming back for more.

One popular resort destination is Pattaya Beach Thailand. Here you will find things to do like a visit to Nong Nooch Botanical Gardens.

Hawaii History

by Marty Johnson on March 11, 2010

The Pacific had been crossed many times and most of the lands around it had been explored before the world knew there was an inhabited archipelago in its very center.

The first white man to discover the islands was Captain James Cook in 1778. He called them the Sandwich Islands, after the Earl of Sandwich. Captain Cook, making his first landing on the verdant island of Kauai, found the islands populated by about 300,000 natives. They were Polynesian in origin, and among the most advanced of all the Polynesians. The islands were ruled by four warring native kings.

About 30 years later, the local wars ended with all the islands united under King Kamehameha I, the wisest and most enlightened of the native rulers of Hawaii. He welcomed other lands, promoted trade and commerce. Traders from abroad brought goods for the from far lands and bought the exotic products of Hawaii in return. Unfortunately they also brought diseases for which the isolated Polynesian People had no natural immunity.

Within 100 years the native population had dropped to 50,000. In the meantime the trends which were to most the Hawaiian Islands one of the Polyglot regions in the world in ethnic origin, had started. First came the missionaries, from New England. They found native people ready to embrace a new religion, and set about converting Hawaii to Christianity.

They also saw in Hawaii opportunities for business. They established small firms to trade with the rest of the world. They succeeded so well that the children of the missionaries are now the chief directors and owners of Hawaii’s great companies, operating huge plantations and far-flung trading companies.

With the dwindling of the native population through the ravages of disease and the development of Hawaii’s plantation fields, field labor was recruited from other lands. The first groups were Chinese. Japanese, Koreans, Filipinos followed. Puerto Ricans, Germans, and Portuguese came later.

During this period Hawaii was a monarchy. Toward the end of the nineteenth century agitation for annexation to the United States began. For a brief period the islands were a republic. Annexation was accomplished in 1898, and in 1900 Hawaii became a Territory of the United States, under a governor named Sanford P. Dole. At that time two-thirds of the population were foreign-born aliens, most of them uneducated Orientals.

Impetus to the transition between an Oriental crossroads community and an integrated American society was given by the sudden impact of World War II, the bombing of Pearl Harbor by the Japanese, the establishment of the islands as one of the great military bases for the war and a staging ground for the whole Pacific Campaign.

It brought to the islands many thousands of fighting men to man the installations, and hundreds of thousands more who stopped briefly in the islands in transit between the distant fighting fronts and home areas. With the war’s end many stationed in the islands stayed to work and live; others who had sampled the benign climate and glimpsed the exotic charm of the islands, returned. With the war’s end the fighting bases became great permanent military installations with a military personnel of about 50,000.

Hawaii has a very heterogeneous population with Americans of Polynesian, Asian, European, and African extraction, immigration to Hawaii still continues. Most of the newcomers are young people. Hawaii’s varied population is reflected in the food specialties which are served. These include poi, a paste made from taro root; roast pig and coconut. The islands have superb fruits; some of them, like the passion fruit, are quite rare. Others are guava, papaya, pineapple. There are also native nuts that are unusual. All are served at the popular luau feast.

Moving to Thailand and starting an Online Dating agency!

by Mark JM Bond on December 29, 2009

I opened the door to my house in Ealing, London having just spent a great three weeks in Pattaya, Thailand, The second thing to greet me after my lovely Thai wife was a pile of post, within minutes i was depressed – two parking tickets for allegedly stopping on a red route (caught on camera) and because the 14 days had passed the price had doubled to 120.00 each, this was quickly followed by a 445.00 water rates bill and a notice that apparently the water pipe under my garden was leaking and the water board were kindly going to replace it and charge me 1200.00

What followed was a series of un-related events that started to make me consider my future and in particular my living situation. Since moving Chanichar (my Thai wife) to England I could see that some of the fun had been sapped out of her, I could see the stress taking the toll on her. In England and London you live to work, you grab a quick lunch and then you normally eat at your desk – I often work 6 days a week, sometime even more. Then several things really upset me like the MP’s expenses row which wouldn’t have normally bothered me really annoyed me, If it was any of us claiming for mortgages we didn’t have we would be sacked and charged. That’s it I declared over glass of Pinot – we are moving to Pattaya and starting a Thai Bride dating site.

When my wife went to see her family in Nakhonphanom she was very surprised to find many friends appearing at her house with photos and profiles all asking for her help in finding a western husband. Chanichar was even more suppressed to find Thai women from the next village whom she had never meet also coming to her house and seeking her help. On one day she had 12 visitors!.

So because of these chance encounters Chanichar felt that there was a need for a new type of Thai Bride web site and beautifulthaibride was born. Chanichar has spent the last few months working franticly with a small but dedicated team of programmers and designers to get the site ready for launch.

On October the 16th 2009 we landed in Thailand and the hard work begins. – and now the hard work we need to find a house, an office for my wife, staff, internet , bank accounts, we need to arrange the transferring of money from the UK and so much more. Well I won’t bore you with all the details but I have listed below who i used and my thoughts – was it hard work – no – in fact compared with doing the same in the UK and the bureaucracy you would have had to face it has been sheer pleasure.

So here we are -We have been here six seeks and I am completing my dive master course and looking for a dive school to invest in – my wife and her small team have launched the web site so if you are interested in a Thai Bride or Asian dating please take a look at her site and I will post the occasional blog of how we fare in the land of smiles. If you are thinking about making the move but are worried by all the red tape and paper work – don’t be – just do it

Want to find out more about Asian Dating, then visit my wifes Chanichars web site to find out about online dating where to find your Beautifull Thai Bride.

Porsche 977 Carrera Sports Car

by Colin Jones on December 14, 2009

A new Porsche 911 is always intriguing because it’s exciting to see how after more than 40 years of improvement the Porsche team still manages to bring changes and advancements to this iconic model.

The new 997 blends the silky modern looks of the 996 series with the fashionable retro styling of the older 911’s. The front end is finished with round lights and separate parking/fog/indicator lights. This modification, coupled with wider hips echoes the last of the air-cooled 911’s, the 993. Other changes in the body shell are the new door handles, wing mirrors and the trendy cut of the rear wings into the bumper/lights.

Even if the 997 looks a lot like the preceding model, the 996, the new car is in point of fact 38mm wider which makes for a more forceful look. With each new model brought out, Porsche has tried to reduce the drag co-efficient helping the 911 glide through the air more efficiently thereby aiding performance. The same thing has been done with the new car, and if we compare the 993 Cd of 0.34 to the 997`s 0.28, we can see how far the aerodynamic game has moved on. The latest body shell and rear wing combine with new under body paneling to also offer increased levels of down force for this latest evolution of Porsche’s best.

The latest Porsche model has the best handling 911 ever. Improving a car’s firmness helps ensure that the suspension is able to work more efficiently and although not making such a quantum leap as the team did with the 996, Porsche enhanced torsional rigidity by 8% and added as much as 40% more strength.

For their new model car, Porsche wanted to enhance crash safety provisions so they added two new air bags, which are located in the side of each front seat back-rest and are calculated to protect the thorax. They also kept the earlier two front and two side airbags, which means that now there are six air bags in total. For the same reason, that is crash safety, the reinforced body shell features additional protection such as a more widespread use of very high strength steel.

The most recent model is also 50 kg heavier than the 996. The reason is that current crash safety regulations kind of force vehicle manufacturers to produce new cars of increased weight, despite the widespread use of a large range of weight saving measures, such as an aluminum bonnet.

Apart from the crash safety advancements, much of the increased weight can be attributed to the higher standard specifications of the new cars. The power to weight ratio is similar with the latest car offering 233 bhp per tonne against it’s predecessors 238 but the new model’s superior aerodynamics must help it achieve Porsche’s claimed performance figures, which are identical to those of the 996.
