Sunshine Cleaning Plot Summary

by Valerie Silva on March 6, 2010

I just finished watching Sunshine Cleaning, an interesting movie released earlier this year. I had wanted to see this for a while now after hearing good things, so I was glad to finally see it offered free via my cable TV plan.

I will tell you a few things about this movie and, don’t worry, I won’t give away the main story by doing this. It takes place in New Mexico and stars Emily Blunt who portrays Norah Lorkowski and Amy Adams who portrays Rose Lorkowski. They are two sisters in their late 20s/early 30s.

Since their mother had died when they were really little, the sisters were reared by their father who was able to give them lots of love throughout those difficult years. Rose’s son Oscar, who is played by Jason Spevack, is about 8 years old.

Oscar has seemingly had some difficulties growing up without a father, but all in all, he’s a well educated boy, though a misunderstood one.

Both the sisters have come across hard times financially as they continually tried to get somewhere in life. Yes, he found a way to make things work for himself, but their father is still not doing all that much better than they are.

This movie really pertains to a type of business that the two sisters start. It is not your ordinary business, as it involves cleaning up an area where someone has died. They do not have to physically remove any bodies. What they must do is to make sure that any blood or other residue in that area has been thoroughly scrubbed clean.

As the two sisters go along in this distinctive business, everything that goes on with it is told in this movie. During that time, there is an examination of Rose and Norah’s relationship as well as Rose and Oscar’s relationship, along with some other ones.

The actors in this movie all do a fantastic job and give you a true sense of just how they feel during the hard times and great times. It is my recommendation that you watch this movie as it is a drama that is of the utmost quality.

Satellite Direct Television Considerations

by Jackie Snow on March 6, 2010

You’ll need to do a little Acceptable satellite reception involves a few necessary considerations. Buildings, trees, mountains can obstruct the signal. You’ll need a good outlook of the southern sky. Beyond that, you have no other choice other than cable.

At times tall trees can block a strong signal and you can’t find a good location for the receiver dish. That presents a worriment. Tall buildings can act the same way. You can get a free feasibility report from a professional or buy a satellite signal tracking meter designed to be an aid in lining up satellite antenna so that the dish location can present maximum performance.

It’s smart to have your signal vitality tested spring to late summer when leaves and branches are at their fullest. By avoiding the fall and winter months for testing you’re not going to get surprised if foliage is a problem.

In Florida, your dish location has to be higher placed than if you lived in Maine. The curvature of the earth and the orbit of the satellites play a role in the clarity of a unvarying direct location plane signal.

If you have a clear view of the southern sky, 99.96 percent of the time, atmospheric conditions will have a negligible effect and you’ll get consistent strong digital signal. You’ll find a sharp, beautiful high-def television picture.

DVRs (digital video recorders) are a well-liked and convenient way to release you from missing your favorite program or sportscast. DVR’s allow video capture and playback from a memory device. This way if you are tired of missing your treasured shows and sitting through boring commercials you can take power of your TV viewing with a digital video recorder.

DIRECTV has rated higher in requisite customer satisfaction over cable TV companies for seven years running according to the 2007 American Customer Satisfaction Index (University of Michigan Business School). That’s better than Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox, Charter and all the other TV providers.

Over 23 million individuals have already made a decision for, chosen DIRECTV over other brands of dish or cable TV for viewing and recording their choice shows. The Most Memorable Occurrences In The Saints vs. Colts Super Bowl Game

by Robin Parch on March 5, 2010

Well, if you love the game of football, then you probably enjoyed this year’s outstanding Super Bowl game that was so awesome to watch. This was the third year in a row that this game was truly worth watching, unlike the games from the years prior to then.

Now, the Indianapolis Colts were heavily favored to come away with the victory at the Super Bowl, but, much to everyone’s surprise, the New Orleans Saints won instead. This was largely due to the fantastic way that Drew Brees and the rest of the Saint’s offense performed in the game; however, their defense did equally as well when dealing with the Colt’s quarterback, Peyton Manning.

Ok, now we will talk about some of the important things that happened in Super Bowl XLIV. If you actually weren’t able to see it, the following information is what you would want to know about this game.

To begin with, although he started the game on shaky ground by only getting three completions from his first seven pass attempts, Drew Brees then went on to have a close to perfect game. He got 29 out of the next 32 attempts and finished the game with a total of 32 completions from 39 attempts, 2 touchdown passes, zero turnovers and 288 total yards.

Numbers like these are remarkable, and this is one of the most efficient quarterback performances in the history of the Super Bowl. It should come as no surprise that Brees won the award.

Let’s not take anything away from Garrett Hartley, the Saint’s young kicker. He attempted and made all three of his field goals from 44, 46 and 47 yards. These were vital in helping them to win, considering that they were losing to the Colts whenever he made two of them.

Last but not least, Peyton Manning, the quarterback for the Colts, sure stirred up a lot of controversy when the game was over. He quickly left the field without offering a handshake or even saying congratulations to any of the players on the Saints team.

It has always been the norm for the winning team’s players to be congratulated by the losing team’s players, so lots of folks say that what Manning did was indeed poor sportsmanship. However, Drew Brees has said that he could understand why Manning was frustrated and that he does not hold anything against him because of that.

The Most Fascinating Things Involving The NBA Basketball Year In 2010

by Jack Lake on March 2, 2010

The plot in the world of basketball this season has been so twisted, so convoluted in terms of performances of some players as well as some of the news about particular players, it has made it an exciting game to follow.

I’m going to talk about the highlights of the 09-10 season. I will talk about both the good and the bad that we have seen so far.

The first thing we should recognize is some of the teams that have come out of nowhere and established themselves as very respectable basketball teams. There are two that stand out to me more than any others, and these were both two of the worst teams in the league last season.

Thanks to Kevin Durant the Oklahoma City Thunder team have shot to a fast success, a success that people didn’t think was impossible but also didn’t think that would happen so fast. They have shot from being one of the lowest to one of the highest-ranking teams this season.

Although people had a slight hunch with the Thunder, when it came to The Memphis Grizzlies, no one had ever thought that they would make it this season or any season for that matter.

Thanks to some great play from Marc Gasol, Rudy Gay, Zach Randolph, and OJ Mayo, this is a team playing some very inspired basketball. They may even make the playoffs.

However, where there is good news there is bad news and looking at the bad end of things, the Gilbert Arenas incident did not bode well for the league at all. Waving a gun at the teammate saw the Washington Guard suspended after pleading guilty.

It hasn’t been all bad in the world of basketball players though. Take the emergence of a few top rookies like Tyreke Evans, Brandon Jennings, and others, all of who have proven that the league is full of promise with respect to the years that lie ahead.

The Best Offerings In The Sphere Of Cartoon Shows

by Randy Bass on March 2, 2010

The spirit of funny television is encapsulated in cartoons. They open up our imaginations and make us laugh out loud at their farcical comedy. Anything is possible in the world of cartoons, and the imagination is king. This makes them a favorite of both children and adults alike.

A lot of care and attention was put into the making of the really old cartoons. Some of them were very well animated with intricate plots, hilarious voices and music that followed the action to perfection.

Let’s remind ourselves of three well known cartoons that we loved when we were young. These are all classics that I’m sure you’ll appreciate in one way or another. Without further ado, here they are.

In the 1960s through to the 1980s, we followed the trials and tribulations of the Jetsons, a space age family. It seemed very futuristic less than 30 years ago.

We really enjoyed watching the portrayal of life for the Jetsons out in the cosmos, and we didn’t find it too hard to believe, either.

If you watch an episode of Popeye, you might have trouble believing it was made over 50 years ago, so much work was put into it. The show always gave us a great confrontation of good and evil.

Popeye always had to battle against Bluto for Olive Oil’s affections. When he’d topped up on spinach, Popeye was like Clark Kent as Superman. Children would love watching his heroics after a can of spinach.

Looney Toons has to get a mention here. It’s hard to find a more timeless show and Bugs Bunny’s character is as relevant now as it was when it was created.

The Looney Toons scripts are works of genius and it’s evident that a high level of professionalism went into the show’s creation.

What Happened Targeted Cable TV Stations?

by Mindy Salas on February 27, 2010

Think back to when cable TV first appeared, could you remember how different it was back then? Going back about 20 years ago, cable TV had quite a few differences compared to what we have now.

The biggest difference that I notice is the fact that most of the different channel options were networks that consisted of very niche programming. No matter what your area of interest, you could find a network whose television lineup consisted exclusively of a certain niche.

Back then, both Bravo and A&E focused specifically on the fine arts and every show they aired was on that subject area. However, when you take a look at these channels today, they have begun to show things outside of the niche subject area and have started to show reality TV.

Then there is the music channels that used to play nonstop music all day and prided themselves on this fact, but sadly again this can no longer be said of either MTV or VH1.

Now days, you can flick onto any music channel and it will probably not be music that you get to watch, not immediately anyway. I actually cannot recall a time that I got to see any music on either channel.

On both MTV and VH1, there are a ton of reality TV shows. Whether they’re dating shows like Rock of Love, or reality shows that chronicle the lives of people like MTV’s Jersey Shore, it seems like everything on both of these networks is also reality TV.

All said there are still some channels that actually do what they are supposed to do, Channels such as The Game Show Network, which actually shows game shows for the majority of the time. Nevertheless, even this one as begun to be affected by the reality TV disease as a new series plans to follow the Newlywed Game host.

Let’s hope that television stations can return to their roots. I know that I’m not the only viewer who’d appreciate it.

Iron Chef: Japan’s Culinary Sensation Takes America By Storm

by Ross Everett on February 21, 2010

One of the most entertaining spectacles on television can be found every week on the Food Network. The concept of the program sounds like a twisted dream”prominent chefs from all over the world go head to head in competitions more suited for All Japan Pro Wrestling. Thats exactly the premise of Iron Chef, which is hands down the most compelling cooking show on television. Even non-gourmands will enjoy the fast paced competition and the near incomprehensibility of the show.

The story behind the show goes something like this”theres this rich dude, MC Kaga who summons the finest chefs in Japan to do battle in his kitchen stadium. Needless to say, a TV studio wouldnt suffice for such a production: the kitchen stadium is in Kagas castle. Also in residence are three Iron Chefs, each representing a different type of cuisine (Chinese, French and Japanese). The summoned culinary challenger picks which Iron Chef he wants to take a crack at and the contest begins. The show was originally created by the Fuji TV network in the Japan, and the original Japanese title translates literally to The Iron Men of Cooking.

The chefs just dont pull out the best dishes from their repertoire–that would be too predictable. Theres a catch to the contest, and thats the fact that every dish must contain the theme ingredient which is kept a mystery until immediately before the contest begins. At that time, Kaga brings forth a heaping helping of whatever the current mystery ingredient is in a production of smoke and pyrotechnics. Sometimes the ingredient is something basic like tofu or apples, but it can also be something obscure like ox tail or some obscure shellfish.

At that point, the chefs have an hour to prepare a seven course meal, served to a discerning panel of B-List celebrities that usually include a couple of ‘TV Presenters’ and a ‘fortune teller’. The judges rate and discuss each course and declare a winner. Its a great honor to beat one of the Iron Chefs, though its no easy feat.

What really brings the show together is the announcing”though Im sure it loses something having been dubbed from Japanese. Theres a hysterical play by play announcer, an excitable color commentator, and an even more hyperactive sideline correspondent who will break in the commentary frequently with revelations such as observing that a chef is using fresh ginger in a dish or some similar piece of trivia. Apparently one of the announcers is a legit sumo wrestling announcer in Japan, making the strange juxtaposition between cooking shows and wrestling even more complete.

The dishes that are presented are always amazing and creative. Sometimes they might not be the most appetizing creations, but that’s to be expected when you have to make a desert with something like pickled carp as a theme ingredient. The creative process and the competition is what makes the show a must watch.

The Food Network has recently begun production of a native grown version called ‘Iron Chef America’. It has a similar format, but really loses a lot from the inscrutable original.

How Do We Fall Asleep With A TV On?

by Ellen Klein on February 20, 2010

There is a difference on opinion where watching TV in bed is concerned. Many people will tell you that they only fall asleep whilst watching the telly but other people will say that they cannot stand to have it on as it only keeps them awake.

But who is right? Well, no one is right actually as everyone is different but there are some things which will affect a person’s views on this.

Let’s take a look at the best way to use the TV as a means of falling asleep. This could easily help you out at night if gone about the right way.

There are three major mistakes that people make when they try to fall asleep with a television turned on. Let’s take a look at each, along with the corresponding solutions.

Some people neglect to put the sleep timer on their sets. This is a bad idea. In doing this, you’re going to either fall asleep with the set turned on, or you’re going to force yourself to turn it off while you’re still awake.

The change in atmosphere will confuse your body and you may be up for longer as a result. Use a sleep timer, and set it for an hour or two out, as you’ll be putting less pressure on yourself in the event that your timer runs out while you’re still awake.

Then there is the trouble with volume, if it’s on very loud then you obviously wont sleep because you are disturbed by the noise but equally as troubling is if you have the sound down too low that you end up concentrating too hard on trying to hear it or forgetting that the TV is on altogether which is pointless.

Also, if you’re watching a programme or a film that you like, that’s fine but it shouldn’t be so interesting after all, it’s not on for the sake of watching really.

If the programme ends up being something you really enjoy or are finding particularly interesting then you will have a hard time of drifting off, as it is likely to keep grabbing your attention. You should ideally watch something, which is not too good but just about reasonable viewing.

Family Guy Brian Is He The Perfect Pet?

by Anthony O\' Connell on February 18, 2010

What is the deal with the character from Family guy Stewie? Obviously he is a baby. A very intelligent and diabolical baby. This television program has raised more than a few questions, and supplied limited answers not to mention, quite a bit of controversy.

OK, we all saw the episode where Stewie turns a year old, so it is not a huge surprise that he speaks (even though he sounds more like a thirty year old), but why does he have a British accent, when the family lives in Rhode Island, in the United states? Anyone who has heard a Rhode Island accent, or for that matter any New England accent can see just how funny this truly is. Also Brian can understand him, but no one else can? Or are they just ignoring the little dictator in the making?

Stewie wants his mother Lois dead, or does he? Is this simply acting out behavior? Is he resentful because Lois ignores him? Or, is he truly a little monster? Is this in fact, how serial killers and dictators are created?

How does Family Guy Brian, the dog, travel freely just about everywhere that he wants to go? It seems that Brian has an easier time passing through airport security than Ted Kennedy did, and he does this alone, or worse, with Stewie in tow. Let’s not even consider how he continues to find human girlfriends… All of this while still occasionally peeing on fire hydrants and dragging himself across carpets.

While on the subject of Brian, do dogs really drink so much? This may explain how he happened to meet Peter downtown, while spit washing his windshield. Perhaps this is why so many dogs find themselves in the shelters looking for homes. Maybe all they really need is a bit of time to dry out, a warm meal, and a job to go to. This all kind of makes Snoopy look like a reasonable character.

What is the story with Meg? The entire family seems to hate her. Half of the time, Peter can not even remember her name, or who she is. During one episode, Meg thinks she is pregnant, and decides to get married. She decides to invite girlfriends over for bachelorette party. The next thing you know, the door flies open and in comes a male stripper, it is Peter… Where the heck is DCF?.

Yes Peter is indeed a buffoon. It seems that there’s not much that he can get right. However at the same time, something very endearing about this character, which makes people root for him. Perhaps it has something to do with wanting the best for the underdog. Everything that Peter does is not completely screwed up. After all, he did take the family to Natick and found the Twinkie factory after the town blew up. Never mind what happened next, because it is typical Peter messing everything up again.

Family Guy is satirical, sarcastic, and speaks its mind even when people don’t want to hear it. Some people love it, some hate it, but most will admit, were lucky. There is a family Guy. Giggity giggity goo.

The author of this article is a big fan of family guy Stewie. He can’t wait to see more. Giggity.

Jersey Shore On MTV Memorable Moments

by Beth Cooper on February 17, 2010

If you’ve been keeping up with winter television, there’s a good chance you heard about Jersey Shore by now. Maybe you’ve even seen some episodes.

In the event that you still haven’t heard about this show, I’ll give you the brief synopsis. Seven randomly selected young Italian Americans are living in a shared house in a New Jersey summer beach town.

The wild town of Seaside Heights in New Jersey is home to plenty of action. The characters on this show make it all the more interesting.

Every episode of this show brings something interesting, and this is perhaps the show’s biggest draw. Whether it’s a cheating girlfriend or a bar fight, you’ll always be amused with the entertaining antics of the show’s main characters.

I don’t want to ruin things for you if you’re planning on seeing the episodes, so you’d be best off not reading the rest of this article if that’s the case. If you’ve seen the episodes or simply don’t care about knowing what happens, the following list will recap some of the show’s highlights through this point.

Two housemates, Sammy and Ronnie, have ended up falling in love with each other. This was very unexpected, as in the first episode, Ronnie had claimed that the last thing anyone should do at the Jersey Shore is fall in love. The two of them seem to be head over heels for one another.

Then, a recent episode with Vinnie, another member of the cast, brought some more surprise and suspense. While he was out at night, he ended up wandering off with an older woman. What he didn’t realize was that this woman was the date of the man whose house they’re living in. Needless to say, this didn’t sit well with Vinnie, who was sure that he’d be kicked out of the shore house.

Then, there are the fights. Whether it was Snookie being punched in the face on two separate occasions or Ronnie’s beat down of a persistent heckler, there’s a fight that breaks out in just about every episode of this show.

The coming episodes of this show should be just as interesting, and many anxiously await them.

This author also frequently blogs about the down blanket throw and Little Giraffe chenille baby blankets.
