Beach Walk 602R – Magic in the Mundane

by Tim on October 20, 2009

Most all religions and also a big chunk of the new age movement imply or implore that we follow a strict regimen of behaviors in order to be happy, to have grace shine upon us, to get those parking spaces, and to live happily ever after. I don’t buy it. I think happiness can be found by finding pleasure in the small things, the little mundane aspects of life that themselves are gems of pleasure. By focusing too much on the big things, or holding out happiness until [fill in the blank here …

Beach Walk #13 – Jin Shin Jyutsu

by Tim on October 7, 2009

Raves to Gina, our masseuse, who treats us to lomi lomi and amazing energy work twice a month. I am at a loss for words to describe what she does, other than to say she keeps my stress and paddling kinks from getting the best of me. She’s been doing some jin shin jyutsu, one technique of which I had actually self-administered many decades ago without knowing! I just love when these life experiences come ’round full circle. To relieve your woes, just hold the representative finger, and focus …

Beach Walk 670 – Say No to Victim Energy

by Tim on September 4, 2009

Read hotel reviews on Ooaha.com

I ran into my friend Sally Spencer (Beach Walk 528 ) and we got to talking about the broken hearts show (Beach Walk 668) and how compelling “victim energy” can be. And also how it can weaken a person, both body and spirit. It takes a special understanding to be compassionate and encouraging at the same time, rather than slipping into pity. Pity does not empower, in my book. Hawaiian word: Ho’omana: empower

Beach Walk 674 – How to Embed Video in a Web Site

by Tim on September 2, 2009

You know, some things Shane and I just take for granted. Then we realize the ignorance of our ways. Such is the case on “embedding a video” on your web page. We thought “everyone” knew how to do that but we ere wrong. People have been emailing me asking how to do it, since I have mentioned it a few times. So let’s have a little lesson at the beach today. Please let me know of this makes things clearer for you! And if not, ask your questions and we will do a part 2 as desired. I’d like to …

Beach Walk 744 – USS Nimitz Steel Beach #1

by Tim on August 29, 2009

Who knew after all my disco years dancing to the tune of “in the navy” I would be a DV on a US Navy Aircraft Carrier? Shane and I spent an overnight on the USS Nimitz – a 4.5 acre steel beach. We’ve got several episodes for you, as of course we couldn’t go alone! Part One is the getting there, via a COD flight with an arrested landing. Distributed by Tubemogul.

Beach Walk 657 – Running Stretches

by Tim on August 25, 2009

A new acquaintance of mine on Twitter, Cheryl Smith, is working on a running program and was looking for some Achilles Heel stretches, and I offered to show her some of my favorites on a Beach Walks episode. Thanks to @ChrisBrogan for connecting Cheryl and me. Knowing me as you do, I thought starting off a Monday with some stretching would be good for most of us! The first two are simple with a bonus yoga stretch at the end. Remember to stretch your upper and lower calves, with a straight …

Beach Walk 648 – Personality Preferred

by Tim on August 19, 2009

Read hotel reviews on Ooaha.com

I am reading a friend’s new book, Personality Not Included by Rohit Bhagarva. He works for Ogilvy, a large advertising and PR company, and when it comes to new media, he gets it. I met him at the Vloggercon conference two years ago. I realized this morning that all this talk I do on Beach Walks about being our oddball, unique selves, applies to companies too. Small companies and large companies alike think they have to play by last century’s rule book (be boring; don’t offend) – but that’s …

Meet Captain Mike Manazir who tells us to ask any question, take pictures and videos, talk to the sailors, no restrictions. Right away with the Captain you will get a feeling for the people on board. One of my fellow travelers, Olwen Huxley, summed it up perfectly: “I got on the Nimitz “wow, the technology” and got off the Nimitz “wow, the people.” Distributed by Tubemogul.

Beach Walk 735 – Spring Bikini Edition

by Tim on August 8, 2009

Read hotel reviews on Ooaha.com

I’ve been conducting a very lackadaisical campaign on Beach Walks over the past three years to change attitudes about bikinis aka the Bikini Liberation Front. We mostly approach them from the point of view of bikini watchers, not bikini wearers. It is so loaded with who should or should not wear one. Well here in Hawaii they are ubiquitous! No matter what kine body you have – it just feels good to have the warm water of the Pacific and the warm sunshine wash over you. Wayne Dyer once said …
