ore and more brave souls are leaving their “known worlds” for life as an adventure, the kind without a job for a safety net. Decades ago the book appeared, “Do What You Love and The Money Will Follow”…cont at beachwalks.tv

We all heard Cubworld’s amazing song, Wise Words, on Beach Walk 632 – Island Adventure. He is the second person to qualify on Sellaband which is a social network site for emerging musicians. Born in Tonga, Cubworld has resisted his musical urges in favor of fine art for many years, but the song keeps coming back to him. www.cubworld.com

I ran into my friend Sally Spencer (Beach Walk 528 ) and we got to talking about the broken hearts show (Beach Walk 668) and how compelling “victim energy” can be. And also how it can weaken a person, both body and spirit. It takes a special understanding to be compassionate and encouraging at the same time, rather than slipping into pity. Pity does not empower, in my book. Hawaiian word: Ho’omana: empower

You know, some things Shane and I just take for granted. Then we realize the ignorance of our ways. Such is the case on “embedding a video” on your web page. We thought “everyone” knew how to do that but we ere wrong. People have been emailing me asking how to do it, since I have mentioned it a few times. So let’s have a little lesson at the beach today. Please let me know of this makes things clearer for you! And if not, ask your questions and we will do a part 2 as desired. I’d like to …

Who knew after all my disco years dancing to the tune of “in the navy” I would be a DV on a US Navy Aircraft Carrier? Shane and I spent an overnight on the USS Nimitz – a 4.5 acre steel beach. We’ve got several episodes for you, as of course we couldn’t go alone! Part One is the getting there, via a COD flight with an arrested landing. Distributed by Tubemogul.

A new acquaintance of mine on Twitter, Cheryl Smith, is working on a running program and was looking for some Achilles Heel stretches, and I offered to show her some of my favorites on a Beach Walks episode. Thanks to @ChrisBrogan for connecting Cheryl and me. Knowing me as you do, I thought starting off a Monday with some stretching would be good for most of us! The first two are simple with a bonus yoga stretch at the end. Remember to stretch your upper and lower calves, with a straight …

I am reading a friend’s new book, Personality Not Included by Rohit Bhagarva. He works for Ogilvy, a large advertising and PR company, and when it comes to new media, he gets it. I met him at the Vloggercon conference two years ago. I realized this morning that all this talk I do on Beach Walks about being our oddball, unique selves, applies to companies too. Small companies and large companies alike think they have to play by last century’s rule book (be boring; don’t offend) – but that’s …

I love reiterating some of our recurring human experiences with the goal of going easier on ourselves. This episode is a reminder of how stressful it can sometimes be to learn new things, as in the case of my nephew Tyler who is learning to drive. Remember that the brain and quite possibly also the physical circuitry is at work learning new patterns. To realize that some old patterns may be in the process of expanding or being dismantled. And to go slower rather than faster. To repeat as …

Our car is 6.5 yrs old but has only 40000 miles (eh – living on an island!) I have way more miles in my frequent flier accounts than the odometer of the Ford Escape. Statistics can prove anything. Old Thinking: That’s bad! New Thinking: Use math to my advantage, to help me feel better, so I become untethered to what is holding me back. Not to lie or manipulate per se, but to use .5 as half full, OR half empty. Both are true. Which interpretation feels better for me for now? I personally …
