Skiing And Snowboarding In Big Bear Lake California, USA

by Keith Causey on March 1, 2010

What do you think of when you think about Southern California? I bet the word sunny comes to mind. How about the word sand or flip flop? Certainly those are images that come up as well. But, would you think of snow and winter sports? Not many people would. However, there is plenty of it in the second largest state. Northeast of San Bernardino, there is a place called Big bear Lake. And, there is plenty of skiing and snowboarding in Big Bear Lake California.

Nearly 7,000 feet above sea level sits mountainous beauty. It’s beauty is comparable to any place on earth. There are seven miles of lake bordered by highway 38 to the north, and highway 18 to the south, winding along 22 miles of shoreline. Corralling Big Bear Lake are 4 snow-covered mountain peaks. Where could a more beautiful sight be found for skiers, vacationers and admirers alike?

Snow lovers can choose from any of the 4 mountain tops and indulge to their hearts delight in passionate snowy sports. Beginners through experts can traverse the 1700 vertical feet accessing 75 trails using one of 20 lifts. For some slops 4 high speed chains will help you get to the height you want to reach to do your skiing and snowboarding.

You will certainly remember your time skiing and snowboarding in Big Bear Late California. The ski runs are groomed as well as any on Earth. If you don’t or can’t ski or snowboard, there are plenty of other winter sports and activities to occupy your time. Tours to scenic areas are available if you want to strap on some snow shoes and take a walk.

When you are done skiing or whatever you are doing in the snow, you can visit one of the many other attractions available. At your disposal are many fun things for adults and children. There is a zoo called Moon Ridge Zoo. But, unlike many zoos this is actually an animal rescue and hospital. If a wild animal is injured, it is brought here for treatment and recovery. If the animal cannot return to the wild, it lives out its days in the zoo. Everyone will love visiting this place.

You may be the best skier in the world, but at some point you too will wear down and need to rest. At Big Bear Lake, you can go indoors to many places and sit by the fire in cozy furniture and create a new set of memories. There is not much better feeling than coming in from the cold to a warm fireplace, a big chair and some hot apple cider. But, don’t think even that is all there is to do in this place.

Some resorts offer babysitting and child care. In many cases, these services can be utilized on and off the slops, allowing for skiing and snowboarding without worrying if the kids are being properly cared for.

After a day on the slopes, and before snuggling into a warm bed, gourmet dining is also available. Then, finish off the night with professional theater productions. When this winter vacation is done, all your vacation conversations will be about skiing and snowboarding in Big Bear Lake California.

Free Things To Do While You’re In NYC

by Todd Goldfarb on February 22, 2010

It is not hard at all to find either free things or inexpensive activities to fulfill your time in the city that never sleeps. With the many cultural attractions and the huge parks system there is a great deal to do that will not cost you a penny or it will only be pennies.

It’s a guarantee that you will have a lot of fun seeing all of the sky scrapers, churches, museums, memorials, monuments, and other places and buildings. The Bronx Zoo is free to visit on Wednesdays. There you will see lions in their habitat or meet a western gorilla. The National Museum of the American Indian and their art, tapestries, cave paintings, and artifacts at no cost in this branch of the Smithsonian.

Musical numbers and skits of all the major shows playing are offered in the yearly show, Broadway on Broadway. But with the free admissions it is hard to see this show unless you book it early.

If you are able to get your kids up early on the weekends then the Brooklyn Children’s Museum would be a great place to go with its free admission before noon. In June and July they put on free concerts for you to enjoy freely of course.

You will no doubt get thirsty or hungry with your entire site seeing affairs throughout the day. Make sure whether it is breakfast, lunch or dinner that you visit one of the thousands of dinners or restaurants. Using your Daily Flock connection of discounted deals will save you a lot of money when dining.

Make Your Business Trip More Fun With Food

by Dorthy Weatherbush on December 10, 2009

Recently my wife and I opened a business and found that our travel itinerary increased dramatically. Now, like any one, I love traveling but it does begin to wear on you the more you find yourself away from home. With that said, there is one benefit to traveling that we find most enjoyable. Yes, flying first-class is a great perk and renting a convertible in sunny California is nice however my favorite traveling experiences is tasting all of the wonderful cuisine that each city we travel to has to offer. Think about the city in which you currently live. Don’t you have your list of the best restaurants that you love to frequent? In fact, many of these places are probably not what many would call five star restaurants rather they are probably a lot of diners, drive-ins and dives that would make the top of your list.

With that in mind, I have put together a list of tips to help you on your next trip so that it is much more fun, enjoyable, and unforgettable.

Keep a food journal When go to visit a place that you have never been before, you should keep a journal of the places where you have eaten. Write down the name of the restaurants, their addresses, phone numbers and what exactly you had to eat at that restaurant. If you had a great experience at the particular eatery, then make a note; if you didn’t then make a note of that too. This is a great way to keep track of the places you’ve eaten so that when you go back to visit places you’ve been before, you have a reference so that you can remember where the good places are to eat.

Take a picture with the chef Taking a picture with the chef can be an interesting thing to do when visiting another city. It gives you the chance to meet the person who is responsible for your tasty dish and offers the chance to meet someone knew. The pictures you will have for a lifetime and will be a good conversation starter when your return home.

Ask a local If you really want to find out what’s good to eat, ask a local. They will be able to tell you better than anyone what’s good and what ain’t. They can truly make the difference between a boring food experience and an exciting one.

Order Dessert to Go One of the best things we can do for another person is to give them something expecting nothing in return. When finishing your meal, call the waitress or waiter over and ask them to find out for you what another patron would like for dessert. Tell them to give them whatever they as for off of the dessert menu and to add it to your tab. Make sure that he doesn’t tell them that it came from you.

Traveling can be fun or it can be painful; but with these few tips, you have learned how to make the most of your trips whether they are for business or for pleasure! Bon Appetit!

Dorthy Weatherbush has to do a lot of traveling for business. That’s why when she travels, she tries to make her hotel stay feel like home with products from Collections Etc. You can find all kinds of little treats for your business trip from Collections Etc that will make your trip more relaxing.
