Innkeepers: Your Key to a Stress-Free, Romantic Mountain Wedding in NC

by Jane Leisteiner on March 5, 2010

Creating the perfect wedding doesn’t have to be like navigating the Titanic through icy waters. A country inn wedding not only includes the perfect romantic setting, you also have the advantage of using your innkeeper to help plan out all the details.

At the Chateau on the Mountain in Fletcher, NC, weddings take place on picture-perfect grounds that offer views of Mount Pisgah and the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains and Hooper’s Creek Valley. The intimate, 10-acre setting of this North Carolina inn affords privacy, but is just minutes from Hendersonville and Asheville.

Weddings take place throughout the year at the Chateau on the Mountain, and the innkeepers are experts at planning everything from a lavish wedding with 300 or more guests to a small, intimate elopement. You can rest easy and enjoy the romance while the innkeepers help you with details such as ordering flowers, planning the reception or rehearsal dinner, finding an officiant for the service and much more.

There are several special wedding packages available at the Chateau on the Mountain. The innkeepers offer an Elopement Package which covers the ceremony, dinner for up to 10 and a night’s stay in the inn’s honeymoon suite. All you have to do is show up and enjoy the experience.

For guests booking a wedding of 100 or more guests, the innkeepers offer a complimentary First Anniversary Package. This package includes two nights in the inn’s honeymoon suite, as well as a private wedding cake, champagne, breakfast in bed, and an in-room dinner. If you wish to leave your suite, the innkeepers also include tickets for two to the famed Biltmore Estate.

So whether you long for a big, fancy affair or something sweet, but simple, the innkeepers at Chateau on the Mountain can plan the perfect North Carolina wedding. With amazing scenery, romantic decor, wonderful cuisine and plenty of help from your innkeepers, you’ll enjoy a stress-free day filled with happy memories.

Enjoy a Presidential Excursion to James Madison’s Montpelier

by Jane Leisteiner on February 25, 2010

Montpelier, the home of President James Madison, offers a variety of tours and special programs throughout the year. The staff at this historic treasure has joined with local innkeepers to create the Montpelier Excursion Packages, which combine tours of the home with fine local accommodations.

The Holladay House Bed and Breakfast in historic downtown Orange is one of the excellent Virginia inns that you can select. This historic home, built in 1830, has been restored and decorated to reflect both the home’s 19th-century charm as well as all the romance one expects at a fine bed and breakfast.

There are several romantic guest rooms and suites, many with amenities such as a fireplace, double whirlpool tub or a private patio. Luxurious linens, fluffy towels and soft robes are among the other amenities that will leave you feeling pampered and content. The innkeepers prepare a delectable full breakfast each morning, a perfect start to a day exploring Montpelier, which is just five minutes away.

The first Montpelier package available is the Montpelier Wine Weekend. This three-day, two-night package includes lodging at your inn, dinners at local restaurants, a tour of Montpelier and tastings at six local wineries.

Other fun options are the History Weekend and History Weekday packages, which also are three-day, two-night trips. These packages include lodging, dinners and a tour of Montpelier including the mansion and grounds. The Dig in Style package is another option, perfect for those who have a little more time. This 7-day, 6-night package includes all your lodging, dinners, box lunches and tours of Montpelier, as well as special dinners with the Archaeology staff at Montpelier. In addition, you’ll get to spend several days digging at Montpelier’s archaeological dig site.

If you would like even more romance or relaxation, the innkeepers at The Holladay House offer several special packages and add-on surprises. You can book a massage, have fresh Orchids placed in your room, have a picnic basket prepared or enjoy a freshly baked chocolate lava cake delivered to your room. These are just a few of the special items the innkeepers offer to make your stay at The Holladay House perfect.

Book a Biltmore Bed and Breakfast Getaway

by Jane Leisteiner on February 24, 2010

For those who have visited the White House or Hearst Castle and thought them to be grand mansions, think again. The Biltmore Estate, built in the 19th century by George Vanderbilt II, is three times larger than the President’s Pennsylvania Avenue digs. This stunning architectural treasure is a National Historic Landmark and one of the country’s top tourist attractions.

It is not hard to understand why the Biltmore Estate is so popular. Guests can take a tour of the mansion, which boasts priceless original artwork, the finest of antiques and unique items such as a chess set once owned by Napoleon or a bowling alley. The grounds include a working farm where guests can experience a little bit of life in the 19th century. There also is a winery that offers tours.

In addition, you can spend your day at Biltmore taking a carriage ride, a horseback ride, biking, hiking, fly-fishing or taking a float trip along the French Broad River that runs through the estate’s expansive property.

While rooms are available at the Biltmore Estate, booking a reservation at one of Asheville’s romantic and historic bed and breakfast inns is a better value.

The Asheville Seasons Bed and Breakfast is an ideal choice. The historic Asheville inn is located within walking distance of the downtown area in the Historic District of Montford. It’s just five minutes from the Biltmore Estate and only 10 minutes from the famous Blue Ridge Parkway.

There are five beautifully decorated guest suites at this Asheville bed and breakfast, most of which have a working fireplace. Guests are pampered with amenities such as fluffy robes, Kingsdown beds topped with fine linens, private baths stocked with lotions and bath salts and, of course, a homemade full breakfast each morning.

If you do plan on visiting the Biltmore Estate, the innkeepers offer a special add-on Biltmore package that includes two-day tickets to the famed mansion. They also are happy to help guests plan non-Biltmore excursions and suggest local restaurants and shops to visit.
