by Jack Lords on March 8, 2010

I think it is impossible to visit Hawaii and not experience the holiday of a lifetime.

Below are our top three reasons why you should visit Hawaii. Once you are there you will be so captivated that you will want to learn all about Hawaii and will certainly want to return.

1. The Best Place To Relax – Most of us have very hectic lifestyles and it can be hard to find the time or place to wind down – here in Hawaii, it is all waiting for you. The beaches are calm and tranquil, offering a great place to escape for your usual manic life. Whether it is long strolls or simply catching some rays, the beaches here will offer it all.

2. Enjoying The Hawaiian Activities Available – The beach is obviously full of the usual beach activities, windsurfing, diving, snorkeling, swimming, sailing. But additionally, if it is a challenge then you must try the mountains. The Hawaiian islands are volcanic and as a result there are amazing mountains which offer great climbing and hiking opportunities accompanied by spectacular views.

3. The Hawaiian Culture – Hawaii is quite an old culture, but no one knows exactly how old. The island natives are keen to preserve their culture and to prevent it from being overtaken by tourists. Although the tourist industry has commercialized some aspects of the culture, there are still a lot of traditional festivals to experience whatever time of year you visit.

Whatever you are looking for in a holiday, Hawaii will be able to offer it. The Hawaiian islands are often associated with wedding and romance, but they are also great for families.

The kids will love the outdoor life of Hawaii. This is a great opportunity for them to try lots of different sports and you can organize lessons or book them into a kids club, so you will also get some time out. The Benefits of a Serviced Apartment For Your Stay in London

by Rajul Chande on January 26, 2010

Serviced apartments in London can give you a lovely feeling of abundant space in a crowded city, but only if you avoid the pitfalls and make the right choice. This article will guide you in the right direction.

Here are some pros and cons of London serviced apartments that you should bear in mind.

Pros of London serviced apartments:

* “More square feet for each dollar you spend”. Serviced apartments usually provide more room for a fixed budget.

* “Liberty”. Serviced apartments let you prepare your own meals (so you save lots of money!) – this is a godsend particularly when travelling with your family.

* “Feeling local”. It “feels good” to have your own apartment in London. You may also feel more like a local!

* “Extended stays”. The benefits of serviced apartments really come into their own during longer stays.

* “A flexible arrangement”. Serviced apartments often give you greater versatility, particularly if you don’t want to deal with the paperwork and hassle of a long-term rental.

Key disadvantages of serviced apartments in London:

* “Absence of hotel services”. Sometimes hotels can save you time (even though London serviced apartments also often come with extra services).

* “Information lacking”. A good hotel concierge is often useful for providing information and restaurant and theatre reservations.

* “Feel-good factor?”. The top London hotels can sometimes make you feel very special and individual and you may miss this flair with a serviced apartment.

* “Uncertainty”. It’s sometimes unclear what a serviced apartment includes and excludes (for example, is toilet paper provided?). It’s important to try and check beforehand.

You could save around 20% by booking a serviced apartment instead of a similar hotel (though prices can always vary). Do always ask yourself: how essential are all the little “extras” you might get in a hotel when you compare them to the value for money (and often greater space) in a serviced apartment?

If you do decide to go for a London serviced apartment, then keep the following in mind before you make a reservation:

* You sometimes gain increased bargaining power if you book direct.

* Visit Britain has an accreditation scheme for serviced apartments. Do check it.

* Find out any extras which you might have to pay for before reserving (such as telephone costs).

* Be careful about the specific apartment you are given. Don’t trust web photos and always look at various options.

* Check out a few reviews…bad apartments are sometimes advertised in London as “luxury”.

Please be careful and make sure you do proper research before booking your London serviced apartment. Read the London Hotels Insight blog which pre-selects the best serviced apartments based on guest reviews.

How To Select The Best Dublin Hotel

by Matt Spock on January 16, 2010

If you are planning on visiting Dublin then the best way to pick a hotel is to have a look at hotel reviews as these are usually the best source of information. You will get a idea from people who have stayed in the hotel about the services and hospitality as well as finding out about the surroundings. There maybe venues and tourist attractions within walking distance.

Using your own judgment is important when reading about Dublin hotels. Reviews should be critically eyed while considering whether the person is truthful or maybe had a bad experience that could hinder their objectivity. Read more than one review so that you can judge the hotel and see if it is the hotel that you would enjoy staying at when you visit. Besides the reviews, you want to look at the amenities of the hotel and the location.

There’s no shortage of information about Dublin hotels. Reviews are readily available, as are hotel descriptions that will tell you more about a single hotel than reading just the reviews or just the hotel descriptions. You want to stay in a hotel that offers you some onsite amenities and maybe a few facilities so that you can better enjoy your stay. Pictures of the rooms will help you see what dcor the hotels use and some will have pictures of the views from the guest rooms.

Dublin hotels take pride in providing tourists with fantastic services and hospitality. Dublin is an extremely popular city because of its culture, nighlife and modernism. All the information you will need is available on the Dublin hotel reviews and on the hotel descriptions themselves.

Reviews are also a good way to find out where your hotel is situated and if it is close to any tourist attractions in the city. However the ratings alone are not always a good representation of the hotel as people will mark them poor for reasons that wouldn’t affect you such as it doesn’t have a fitness centre. Always check through all the information before you decide.

If you are hoping to visit this city then you will find some great offers at jurys dublin hotel. For more offers and details on Dublin hotels then click here.

Town of Levoca, Slovakia – Well Hidden Gem

by Dominique Brossnan on December 6, 2009

It’s not surprising that there has been a growing interest in the countries east of the European Union. Slovakia has really become a tourist destination, and there are a number of cities to visit. One of the most popular cities right now however is the town of Levoca.

It’s not a huge town, in fact it only has around 15,000 people inhabiting it. Though what it does have going for it is the fact that it almost looks like an old photograph. The town is 354 kilometers from Bratislava, making it a perfect diversion for those who are looking for new sights to see. If you want to see even more, check out the national parks of Slovak Paradise and High Tatras which are actually pretty close by.

The town of Levoca itself has only been recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since June, 2009 – but visitors soon appreciate that this recognition was well deserved. Secure within the well-preserved town walls – 6 watch towers still remain as well as 3 of the ancient gateways – most of the buildings in the centre of the town still have their original walls dating back to the Middle Ages.

The town’s major portal, the Kosice Gate, is directly behind both an ornate Baroque church and an eighteenth century monastery. The town square itself, which is a photographer’s dream location, houses the–th century church of St Jakob, a Town Hall dating back in parts to the 15th century, several other impressively grand buildings and the symbolic and strange ‘Cage of Shame’.

The Church of St Jakob is notable especially for its magnificent example of a Gothic wooden carved altar. Made by famous local craftsman Master Paul, this is the largest example of its kind in the world and, together with 10 other winged Gothic and Renaissance altars inside the church, makes an astonishing interior.

The Cage of Shame is equally memorable – but for vastly different reasons. This wrought iron monstrosity dates back as far as the 17th century and serves as a reminder of the public humiliations handed out to miscreants at that time.

Levoca is a town that you can lose yourself in quite easily. It is a relic from the past, and a huge part of Slovakian heritage. Believe it or not, the Slovakian National Anthem was first sung in this very town. That was an event that took place in the nineteenth century.

Discerning visitors – and those with an eye for genuine value for money – will want to seriously consider the Hotel U Leva when they are looking for accommodation for their stay in Levoca. Not only is it conveniently situated in the town square, directly opposite the Church of St Jakob, but it is also a beautiful building in its own right. A recently and sympathetically restored medieval construction, the Hotel U Leva provides elegant and spacious rooms, many of which have views across the town square. As well as offering stylish, classical charm, however, the hotel also makes sure guests have the modern touches that many consider vital in their hotels. For example, rooms are equipped with satellite televisions with in excess of 200 channels in various languages and high speed internet access. There is a fitness and sauna centre, a pharmacy, souvenir shop, laundry and excellent facilities for disabled guests. The hotel’s restaurant is probably the best in town, and serves great breakfasts and has an extensive menu in the evenings. When you add in the friendliness of the staff, many of whom speak excellent English, then you will begin to appreciate why the Hotel U Leva has become so popular.

It’s not a real tourist attraction, but that simple old fashioned charm certainly makes it attractive to many. It contains a plethora of Slovakian history, and tourists are always welcome.

Slovakia is beautiful country. We recommend to visit it before it will get spoiled by mass tourism. One of the highlights of our journey was town of Levoca and comfortable charming Hotel U Leva – www.uleva.sk

A Must See Travel Destination Is The Coral Castle In Florida

by Michael Kohler on December 2, 2009

Located at 28655 S. Dixie Hwy. in a little town called Homestead Florida not 35 miles south of Miami lies one of the strangest and most amazing tourist attractions not only in the state of Florida but in the United States.

This place is called the Coral Castle. Although originally called Rock Gate Park, the structure located in Homestead is not only an amazing place to visit but also one of the most intriguing megalithic stone structures in the world.

The story is that Edward Leedskalnin was engaged to his childhood sweetheart whose name was Agnes. Ed loved her and called her his Sweet 16. This had to do with their age difference of 10 years.

On the day before the wedding, Agnes dealt a low blow to Ed telling him that she no longer wanted to marry him. Speculation has brought a possible theories that his fourth-grade education or his lack of money may have been motivating factors.

Whatever the reason was, this was a very life changing event for Ed Leedskalnin. It cost him to pack up and leave his hometown in Latvia and journey across the ocean to Canada to start his new life.

They say that Ed wondered about for several years. He began his journey in Canada and later moved into California and Texas. He worked at several types of jobs including cattle drives and working in the lumber camps of Northern California.

Visitors of coral castle can actually believe that these labor intensive jobs actually helped and prepared to make his 1100 tons structure. What is sad, and even confusing, is that this very strong man almost died from contracting tuberculosis before any of this ever began.

Luckily for Ed he was found by a local realtor that helped him back to good health and recover from the tuberculosis that he had contracted. Ed then purchased a $12 piece of land from the realtor and began to make his famous megalithic structure.

One of the best things about America is that it represents a land of opportunity, even for immigrants from small countries like Latvia. Ed was not limited to the size of his country and began to build his future home out of coral on the land he had just purchased.

In this particular part of Florida, the coral is several thousand feet in depth. He had plenty of material to work with and he began right away. Dedicating this initial creation to his Sweet Sixteen, and began history into the miraculous creating domestic coral works of art such as chairs, beds, and tables, all weighing several tons a piece.

The mystery of Ed Leedskalnin is that no one ever found out his secret. No witness ever saw him move a single piece of coral and place or cut it into pieces that they became.

There are many amazing structures at the Coral Castle. One of which is the 9 Ton Gate which is a single piece of coral that is perfectly balanced that a child can push it with her finger causing it to turn.

Edward Leedskalnin died in’51. No one ever found out his secret for moving blocks of coral that way sometimes in excess of 30 tons. Regardless of how he did it, it is an amazing structure to behold.

So if you’re ever in the Miami area, and you need a break from Sea world or the Everglades, stop in at the Coral Castle. You will be amazed.

How Much Money Can I Save With A London Oyster Card?

by Rajul Chande on November 14, 2009

The Oyster smart card system has significantly changed the way London’s “tube” operates.

An Oyster card gives you the right to use almost all the London train and bus network (although the odd station surprisingly stays out of the system).

It provides a big discount on standard fares and also helps save you time in queueing to buy tickets.

The system automatically saves you valuable cents by working out the cheapest amount to charge at the end of the day based on your journeys undertaken.

If you end up travelling a bit more than expected, it will automatically charge only the cheapest day fare instead of expensive individual tickets.

So does this system have any disadvantages?

It can feel a bit daunting initially as you must purchase an Oyster card. This will cost a small deposit, which you ought to quickly recoup in the money you save.

You also need to “touch in and touch out” your Oyster card throughout your journey. But you should get used to this quickly by copying the many Londoners who use the system.

Unless your trip to London is an extremely short visit, you are well-advised to get yourself an Oyster card. As far as we are aware, Oyster cards do not expire: you should be free to use them on future visits to London.

If you don’t expect to return to London shortly, you can normally get your deposit back (but do check the process at the London Underground ticket kiosk before you buy).

There is a “Visitor Oyster” card which you can buy from some outlets but it’s not 100% clear at the moment what its benefits are to tourists.

If you really don’t want an Oyster card, you should at least make sure that you buy the cheapest London travelcard for unlimited access to the tube and buses for the entire day. But you may need to wait until after 9.30am on weekdays to access the cheapest fares.

You might also purchase a weekly travelcard for a larger discount if you’re in London for longer, but this does involve providing a photograph.

Remember: Oyster cards and travelcards can be used on both the tube and bus system, though not at all national rail stations. Do check before you travel.

To get informed about the Oyster scheme and London’s public transport you should certainly visit the official Transport for London website.

Finally, please make sure you wait until after 9.30am on weekdays to avoid London’s extremely high peak-time prices.
