by Thomas Clarke on March 10, 2010

When setting about to travel around the nation, seeking to witness all the great natural and synthetic wonderment’s that the United States has got to extend, South Dakota and Mount Rushmore are certainly at the top of the list. Though your selections are expansive and the sites to explore are very diverse, there is something extraordinary about seeing the sculpted faces of those important presidents staring down at you from the mountain. This along with the varied monuments in Washington D.C. are something that everyone should try to experience at least once throughout their lifetime.

There are many other man made wonders that are also worth your time to visit. Starting with the arch in St. Louis, then the Empire State Building in New York. Of course, let us not forget to mention the recognizable lady of our country, The Statue of Liberty, in New York.

Experiencing the launch pad first hand from Cape Canaveral, as well as a Space Shuttle launch, is something amazing and that will never be forgotten. Sure you can watch the amazement from your television, but that will not give you the feel of the roaring engines.

In that respect there are so numerous wonderful locations to explore as well as witness, only there’s something exceptional about Rushmore. Process on the carving commenced in 1927 and wasn’t finished till 1941. The approximated monetary value of the project equaled just below one million dollars and over four hundred tons of stone was abstracted to obtain the carving. Annually, according to the national park service, more than three million travelers go through the park and wonder at the accomplishment. The park is situated in the famed Black Hills of South Dakota and in that location there are numerous of outside activities for travelers to have.

There are coordinated events for travelers and if you sign on ahead of time and your application is admitted, your scout group can take part in the flag bringing up ceremony in front of the monument. Several outdoor activities are obtainable from hiking up and sportfishing as well as camping out in the camping site field. It’s an excellent educational experience and is genuinely a vision to lay eyes on as well as adds a feel of marvel and awe to youngsters and grownups of every age. It’s a part of America and American history that ought be witnessed by all Americans.

The Best Way To Make Last Minute Travel Arrangements

by Thomas Clarke on March 8, 2010

Assembling a spur of the moment vacation cab be quite a challenge, and if it weren’t for the internet, would just about be inconceivable. The internet, may be considered negative to many individuals, however it does offer many benefits for those last minute details of your trip. Take a moment to think about every long distance phone call you will have to make, as well as calls to operators for business numbers. Then think about all the individuals You will be required to converse with before are able to reserve a suitable accommodation and a flight to your vacation destination.

If you were going to fly to your destination, you would have to burn a phone call to every airline in order to find flight times and the cost of flights and what was still available. The same would be true for your hotel room once you finally arrived at your vacation destination of choice. If you were going to New York City, you would have to somehow get the phone numbers to half a dozen hotels, look at a map to verify that they were in the proximity of where you wanted to stay and then call every one of them for rates and availability.

Working with a travel agent is one way to avoid making all those phone calls, and doing hours of map searches. However, they are often more concerned with how much they will make from your travel arrangement, instead of how much money they can save you. When you book with a travel agent you are never sure if you are getting the best price available, and therefore may end up spending hundreds more then you could have if you did the research on your own.

When you want to find the best prices, without having to make hours and hours of phone calls, the internet is the only way to go. You can research anything related to your trip and you will have all the information right at your fingertips. Many unemployed travel agents blame their demise on the internet, and they are just in doing so.

Looking for a hotel room? Search the internet. Want to schedule your flight? Search the internet. Whether it is deciding on where to visit or book a rental car, you can do it all on the internet. There are no phone calls, no worries about getting the best deals and no hours spent on talking to people who are not wanting to help you unless you are planning on making your purchase or reservation with them. The internet is the fast, simple and friendly way to plan you vacations, whether they are last minute plans or for the following year. Everything can be done with a few clicks of your mouse.

Cheap Flights are often difficult to find, unless you know where on the internet to search. If you go to www.expedia.com.au, you are sure to find international flights at a price that is affordable to you.

Orlando: A World Of Its Own

by Thomas Clarke on March 4, 2010

Orlando is known for many things. Among those things are great vacation spots like Disney World and all the parks that go with Disney, Islands of Adventure and Downtown Disney and all the local restaurants and golfing. In addition to all of these places, you have a park that can sometimes be overlooked. It is SeaWorld.

SeaWorld is made up of wonderful family entertainment, as well as wonderful educational experiences. There are many attractions and shows to take in on your visit to SeaWorld, and often times visitors find they need to return a second day just to fit everything in.

The Busch family, owners of Busch Gardens, are also the owners and operators of SeaWorld. Therefore, when it comes to the rides you know that they will be nothing less than spectacular and exciting. The Busch family is known for their thrill rides and they have set up a few outstanding ones at SeaWorld. Besides a cool roller coaster and an even cooler water roller coaster, the animal attractions and exhibits are like none found anywhere else in the world.

SeaWorld is perhaps most famous for their inhabitants. Many travel across the globe just to take in the killer whale show, starring the infamous Shamu and her family. The animals are the center of the SeaWorld attractions and they are not only treated as stars but as part of the family. Two of the more popular SeaWorld shows, in addition to Shamu, include the walrus and seal shows.

One of my personal favorites includes the polar bear expedition. This exhibit has polar bears that live in cool, almost frozen waters, that makes them feel they are in their native land. I also enjoyed taking a look at the Narwhal. This animal is something that you will seldom see, and will never get the chance to see it roaming in the wild.

The park is a great place to visit, especially for those young oceanographers that might be in the family. It really is a learning experience disguised as an amusement park. It will be a day that the whole family will remember. You can purchase passes that include both parks, Busch Gardens and SeaWorld for a special price. It is just a short trip from Tampa to Orlando. There are shuttles available in both directions.

Cheap Flights from www.expedia.com make traveling during the holidays to visit friends much simplier. You can just look online and check out their great discounts and even international flights.

Places Of Interest In Wyoming

by Thomas Clarke on March 4, 2010

Taking a trip to the great sights that the US has to offer must include at least one visit to Yellowstone National Park. It is Yellowstone, not Jellystone like on the old Yogi Bear cartoons would have had a generation of kids believing.

Yellowstone National Park is the world largest and most frequently visited National Forests in the world. Visiting the park has a feel of stepping back in time to the old west from many years ago in America. The majority of the park is located at higher elevations and above almost seven thousand feet. It is cold in the winter and warm in the summer, and offers one of the greatest outdoor experiences you will ever have in your life.

During the coldest and snowiest parts of the winter season, parts of the park are isolated and roads can be closed. For outdoor lovers, and nature lovers, nothing should keep you from visiting the park. There are plenty of things to do such as hiking and fishing and camping. You might see wild elk, bears, and wolves. This is a wildlife preserve and there are plenty of wild creatures still roaming around. There are some designated camping areas and even nicer accommodations available if you don’t want to rough it in a tent and sleeping bag.

While out exploring Yellowstone National Park you will want to be sure to visit many of the beautiful geysers, including Old Faithful, the worlds most famous geysers. There are also many exhibits for you to look at, where you will learn of the history of the area, both humans and wildlife. While exploring you can decide to go on your own, or partake in a guided ranger tour as this will give you a more in depth look at the park and a wonderful personal experience.

The rangers of the park would like to remind everyone that under no circumstance should you feed the animals. Feeding the animals is not only a danger to the visitors in the area, it is also a danger to the diets of the animals and their eating habits.

A Car Rental – Sydney, Australia

by Adriana Noton on February 25, 2010

Sydney, Australia is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Tourists will be overwhelmed with the amount of things that you can do in Sydney and the best way to soak up this fascinating place is by hiring a car. Car rental Sydney is easy and the internet or your travel agent will guide you through the procedures, laws and the documents needed when hiring a car.

Sydney is a cosmopolitan city with an exciting night life, shopping, and wonderful architecture. The endless sea and sand, the exotic flora and fauna, the rich culture and history offers every traveller something to enjoy. Apart from the famous landmarks like the Sydney opera house and the Sydney harbour bridge there is a lot to see and do in this city.

The best way to enjoy the city is by car since it gives you the freedom to explore at leisure and plan your schedule as per your own interests.

You can book your vehicle in advance or rent a car at one of the many companies offering rental services at the airport. The car rental will normally be parked in a parking garage in the airport and you will need to return it at the same place. Driving through Sydney is easy and speedy sometimes faster than the public transport. The traffic hours should be avoided during morning office hours starting from six till ten.

The signs are clearly marked and easy to understand. You have the option of parking your car within the city center but this maybe costly. You may have to pay up to seventy dollars a day. You can get better rates by parking during special times so research before you do venture out. You can park on the streets but again only during certain times. Certain parking areas even have a time limit. Some parking meters may accept credit cards but always carry cash just in case. Hotels within the city also ask the guests to pay extra for parking. Finding an ideal parking spot may take some time so prepare to spare those extra minutes.

You also need to be aware of driving laws and speed limits. They have left hand driving and the speed limits vary. Wearing a speed belt is compulsory and parking illegally will cost you a lot in heavy fines. If your car is towed away then expect to pay up to four hundred dollars to reclaim it.

While renting a car make sure you know your daily distance allowance and any toll charges that you may have to pay. Certain websites offer to compare the rates for various car rental companies so you can choose the most economical one. Some tolls do not accept cash so buy the necessary pass in advance.

Brisbane and Melbourne are also within reasonable driving distance from Sydney. You can venture out of the city to more relaxing atmospheres of the Bond beach, Blue mountains, Manly beach or visit the famous vineyards of Hunter valley.

We specialize in discount car rental and truck rental Sydney. In our commitment to fulfill customer service, we also provide free express pickup services from many locations for personal, business, or holiday car hire.

Towing Services Are Economical And Essential

by Adriana Noton on February 25, 2010

Everyone has witnessed the aftermath of accidents when the battered cars are towed away by tow trucks. The benefits of these towing services are many.

The crime rate is growing rapidly and the prospect of being alone in the evening walking through a dark stretch of highway is frightening. Women especially are vulnerable when they are driving alone or with children through an isolated area. We would love to all be constantly protected from both hidden and obvious dangers at all times but, the reality is, we are not.

A number of situations arise in ones lifetime where you may need the services of a towing company. If you are in an accident and the car is damaged extensively then you will need to find the nearest towing company which can be a hassle. The company may be expensive and you may not be carrying enough to cover the costs. Getting your car to the garage and getting it fixed may cost you the same as getting it towed to the mechanic in the first place.

If your car breaks down suddenly then you may also need to contact towing services. Cars are vulnerable to time and parts erode over the years. Your car may break down at anytime for numerous reasons and most of the time it happens when you least expect it. Finding a mechanic close by may not be an option.

A mechanic’s shop may be too far out and you will need to find some emergency road services to help transport your car, which is an added cost to getting your car fixed and up and running again. You can avoid this hassle if you have a plan in advance where you get roadside assistance and it includes the price of towing at a reasonable rate.

Roadside assistance plans offer a number of services that are included in the monthly fee. The fee is reasonable and it prevents you from having to pay a hefty sum all at once in case of an emergency. The fee includes a variety of services besides towing such as offering to come and fix your flat tire anywhere you may be. It also includes various other benefits like bringing you a battery in case of a failure.

The roadside plan helps you out of most auto related issues. They will help you if you run out of gas suddenly or get locked out of your car. Every time such incidences happen you would have had to pay a huge amount for towing services and finding a lock smith at odd hours. Having a road side plan will take into consideration all situations where you may be helpless and stuck with your car. They will help you in every emergency situation moving your car safely and securely.

Keep in mind the numerous emergency situations you may find yourself in and realize that anyone may need towing services at any point in time. Having a decent roadside assistance plan will ensure that you get help swiftly and economically.

There comes a time when you need roadside assistance during an automotive crisis. Consult with the Abrams Towing in Mississauga for more information on responsive, resourceful, and reliable emergency road service.

Tennessee’s Pigeon Forge Is Family And Economically Friendly

by Thomas Clarke on February 21, 2010

When you are looking for a vacation that the whole family can enjoy, without spending every dime in your savings account. In the mid-Atlantic region there is a wonderful vacation destination called Pigeon Forge, located in in the eastern mountains of Tennessee.

Pigeon Forge is a nice town to visit and it offers the familiar surroundings of a fabulous tourist attraction. If you look past all the tourist areas you will realize that there are many wonderful things available for everyone to enjoy. To start with Pigeon Forge is located in the valley, therefore you can enjoy the natural scenery that is all around you. Located close to a natural forest there is much to enjoy within the outdoor life.

In addition to all of its natural beauty, there is many of the vacation comforts that you look forward to while planning you get away. There are many hotels available, but in order to get the most enjoyment out of the natural beauty surrounding you you may want to consider renting one of the numerous cabins in the area. All of these cabins come fully equipped and range from small cabins that are perfect for a couple getaway to larger ones that can accommodate your whole family, plus family friends. Cabins can be rented anywhere from one day to a week and the prices vary depending on the time of year you are visiting.

In addition to all the great sights and the outdoor activities, there are plenty of great restaurants and touristy things to do. Along with all the chain restaurants you would expect, there are many local places to eat. The town is literally overrun with pancake houses and breakfast restaurants. There is at least one for every visitor.

The town does have its share of touristy things like go-carts and mini golfing and music shows, but they can be avoided if careful. One place that you will want to make a visit to is Dollywood. Dollywood is a theme park that offers all the regular stuff that you would expect at a theme park, thrill rides, food, a cool area for kids to play, but it offers something that most don’t, down home friendly people who work there. Everyone that works there, from the people who run the rides, to the people who run the booths and drive the trams, everybody is really nice. Not fake nice like in the big city, but nice because they want to be. It is not a large park, but there are some really fun rides, but the real attraction are the people and the fun.

Traveling on international flights can cost a large sum of money. However, if you log onto www.expedia.com.au you can find Cheap Airfares to make your travel dreams come true.

The United States Neighbor Makes A Great Vacation Destination

by Thomas Clarke on February 21, 2010

When vacationer consider traveling abroad, those in the United States never seem to think about Canada as one of those destinations. Although the United States and Canada have many similarities, Canada has much to offer a world traveler. There is a vast country to explore, although most of the population lives withing a hundred miles of the United States border.

Canada has everything from big, metropolitan cities, to small country towns and everything in between. About the only thing that you can’t find are tropical sandy beaches and good surfing spots. Probably the most famous site in the whole country is the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. For anyone who has never seen the Falls, it is quite a site. It has become a popular destination for Honeymoons in the past and has gotten a bad rap for being too touristy. Although it has been thought of that way in the past, it is really a sight to behold. It is a natural wonder that everyone should see.

There is more then the Falls, that adds to the natural beauty of the Falls. With the cattle and grazing lands, and the mountainous area that has the feel of the old west it is a perfect destination for those that love the outdoors and ruggedness. In fact Canada is filled complete with amazing natural beauty.

To go with the scenery, there are also many wonderful activities for you to partake in. There is mountain climbing, kicking and biking. If you are looking for water fun, there is white rafting and fishing. For hunters there is rich unspoiled wilderness that makes for a great day. If you are less of an outdoors persona there is still much for you to do and see in the southern country cities. These large cities have all that the larger cities in the United States have to offer, but with a different feel and atmosphere.

While in Canada you can take in a professional sporting event, visit Toronto, Vancouver and even Quebec that has the feel of being in France. You will need passport to enter, however depending on where you live you can forgo the car rental and ride there on your own wheels. Beijing Hotels and the Two Towers: Of Modernity and History

by Efrenn Larson on February 1, 2010

Since Beijing is China’s capital, it has been home to many architectural wonders which served as defenses and halls to accept foreign guests. The emperor, known as the “Son of Heaven,” was the fulcrum of all the goings-on of the empire. It was through him that the country stood on its feet.

Today, it is a wonder to note that beside these magnificent structures are modern and glitzy Beijing hotels. Truly a sight to behold, these edifices are testaments where we can see how the past and the present harmoniously complement each other. Indeed, it is veritable that we should understand the past for us to define the future. The efforts of the Chinese forebearers were very instrumental in bringing the country to its present state as a modern dragon ready to conquer the world.

It is essential for you not to forget these wonderful ancient structures when you are staying in Beijing hotels. Among these, you should visit the Drum and Bell Towers, aside from the already famous Great Wall.

Known in Chinese as the Gulou, the city’s drum tower is located at the northern end of the central axis of the Inner City. It was originally built for musical reasons but was later used to announce the time and is now a tourist attraction. It is a two-storey building made of wood standing about 47 meters. In ancient times the upper story of the building housed 24 drums, of which only one survives.

The Zhonglou, or the bell tower, is very near the drum tower. This is a 33-meter-high edifice with gray walls and a green glazed roof. Atop these structures, the people could see commanding views of the Beijing landscape since these were the tallest edifices at that time.

The Drum tower was built in 1272 during the reign of Kublai Khan. In 1420, the building was reconstructed to the east of the original site and in 1800, large-scale renovations were carried out. After a century, the Bell and Drum towers were finally opened to tourists in the 1980s.

Musical instruments such as bells and drums were later used to tell time in ancient China. They also served as watches for both officials and commoners alike. These two towers held significant roles in telling the time during the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. An interesting fact is that until now, you can still hear the rings of these ancient timepieces. In this modern age, people who stay in Beijing hotels or in their respective homes have already wristwatches which help them perform their tasks throughout the day.

These two structures are truly important pieces in Beijing’s history. We can definitely say that time is very important. This is the reason why it is vital to book your capacious rooms in any of the Beijing hotels for you to start an experience that you’ll never forget!

Author E. Larson is a long-time resident of Beijing, China. He works closely with the Guohong Beijing Hotel and other hotels in Beijing. Check out his website about the Guohong Beijing Hotel here.

Taking A Trip Along The East Coast

by Thomas Clarke on February 1, 2010

Whenever someone visits the east coast on a vacation they tend to always lead to the state of Florida. Although Florida has a lot ot offer and is one of the largest tourist states in the whole US there is much more to the east coast than just this one state.

Instead of Florida, lets work out way up the Coast. The first stop will be Georgia. Georgia not only has some fabulous beaches, but it also is home to the large city of Atlanta. While visiting Atlanta you should try to take in a sporting event, since they have a professional team in all the major pro leagues. If you want to visit a smaller, and quaint little town then you should head to Savannah and get a true sense of southern charm.

Next stop would be South and North Carolina. These states also do not lack in beaches, but they are also home to many mountains and some of the most beautiful scenery. There is a lot to see and do in these states, and you can even stop at South of the Border, located in between the two states, for some family fun for all ages.

If these things aren’t enough, keep moving up the coast and I am sure you will find even more great things to do. Virginia is the next stop and has plenty of things to offer a traveler or vacationer. It also puts you really close to our nations capital, Washington D.C. With all the monuments and museums in D.C., it could take a normal person weeks just to see every exhibit in the Smithsonian.

Head a little further north and you will be in New York. While you are visiting New York you can take in a Broadway show, see where some of your favorite programs are recorded and even take a walk to Rockefeller Center. There is so much to do in New York, both day, night and wee hours of the morning, that you will never find yourself gong bored.
