The United States Neighbor Makes A Great Vacation Destination

by Thomas Clarke on February 21, 2010

When vacationer consider traveling abroad, those in the United States never seem to think about Canada as one of those destinations. Although the United States and Canada have many similarities, Canada has much to offer a world traveler. There is a vast country to explore, although most of the population lives withing a hundred miles of the United States border.

Canada has everything from big, metropolitan cities, to small country towns and everything in between. About the only thing that you can’t find are tropical sandy beaches and good surfing spots. Probably the most famous site in the whole country is the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. For anyone who has never seen the Falls, it is quite a site. It has become a popular destination for Honeymoons in the past and has gotten a bad rap for being too touristy. Although it has been thought of that way in the past, it is really a sight to behold. It is a natural wonder that everyone should see.

There is more then the Falls, that adds to the natural beauty of the Falls. With the cattle and grazing lands, and the mountainous area that has the feel of the old west it is a perfect destination for those that love the outdoors and ruggedness. In fact Canada is filled complete with amazing natural beauty.

To go with the scenery, there are also many wonderful activities for you to partake in. There is mountain climbing, kicking and biking. If you are looking for water fun, there is white rafting and fishing. For hunters there is rich unspoiled wilderness that makes for a great day. If you are less of an outdoors persona there is still much for you to do and see in the southern country cities. These large cities have all that the larger cities in the United States have to offer, but with a different feel and atmosphere.

While in Canada you can take in a professional sporting event, visit Toronto, Vancouver and even Quebec that has the feel of being in France. You will need passport to enter, however depending on where you live you can forgo the car rental and ride there on your own wheels. It is such a beautiful country you will want to be sure to include while you are determined to visit the various countries of the world.

Cheap flights are easy to get now at Expedia.com. International flights can get to be pricey, but with the best company, like Expedia, you can get great discounts.

Blue Mountain Chalets: A Whole New World Of Family Fun.

by Adriana Noton on February 20, 2010

A holiday in the Blue Mountain area near Ontario in Canada will open up a whole new world of family fun. It doesn’t matter which time of the year you go, there will always be lots to do and to see. For the family man Blue Mountain chalets offer the best alternative by far.

If you are a family of four (or more), chalet accommodation will simply cost so much less than a stay in a hotel. If you stay in a hotel, you will need at least 2 rooms for four guests, which will hike the costs considerably. Four people staying in a hotel for a week or more will do serious harm to the family budget and eat away at money that you could have used to do the things that really make your holiday enjoyable.

If you stay in a hotel, you will also not have any facilities to prepare your own meals. That means you will be forced to eat all meals in either the hotel’s restaurant or at a restaurant in town. This will further escalate costs quite sharply and once again mean that you will have less money to spend on all the activities in the area.

Another factor that makes a chalet such a good choice compared to a hotel room is simply the issue of personal space. Most chalets are quite spacious. There will normally be an area where the family can relax, play games, watch television et cetera. The majority of chalets will either have a large counter with bar stools where the whole family can gather for a meal, or otherwise there will be a dining area.

In an area like Blue Mountain, which gets very cold in winter, many chalets offer a fireplace where the whole family can snuggle up on a cold evening. Somehow the heat provided by an electric heater simply doesn’t offer the same ambiance than a crackling log fire. This makes for quality family time that all of you will remember many years into the future.

Many chalets even offer facilities like a pool table where the family can keep themselves busy during a long evening when it’s perhaps raining outside. Some even offer private swimming pools and hot tubs. Those that don’t have private pools mostly have access to a communal swimming pool, which is great if you are visiting during summer.

Staying in a chalet doesn’t cut you off from the activities in the surrounding area. You can eat out every evening if you want and do so in a different restaurant if that’s your choice. There are sufficient restaurants in the vicinity to please every palate. If the children want pizza and mom and dad want a cozy candle-lit dinner, there’s no reason why everyone can’t have exactly what they want.

Blue mountain chalets are in many respects perfect for a family holiday. There are so much to see and to do in the area that nobody will ever be bored. There’s entertainment for all age groups and every member of the family will return home rejuvenated and ready for life’s challenges.

Planning to ski or snowboard but don’t have a place to stay? Save money by staying in Blue Mountain chalets instead of hotels. Enjoy the comfort of a home while being close to the mountain in these Blue Mountain accommodations. With breathtaking views and in an area with many unique experiences, you’re bound to enjoy yourself.

There Are Lots Of Travel Discounts To Be Found For Canada

by Adriana Noton on January 6, 2010

There are many different types of travel discounts you can find for traveling in and around Canada. You’ll want to look into an clubs you belong to, at travel sites or agency discounts, and of course, look online.

Before booking your travel plans look into any memberships to clubs or affiliations you might have and see if they have discounts for lodging, restaurants or entertainment. Some may also offer flight discounts, it’s well worth your time. Memberships and affiliations such as Senior discounts, school fraternity or sorority savings, and even clubs such as golf clubs memberships offer their members special discounts.

You’ll often find that if you stay in certain hotels, rent cars from certain companies, or even plan on dining in a certain restaurant that your affiliations offer discounts. Check out what your clubs, school, and professional affiliations offer before booking so you can take advantage of your memberships.

One of the other ways to get discounts for traveling is to check out the travel sites that offer complete packages. This will likely include your car rental, motel, flight and sometimes entertainment. If you add it all together separately you’ll find that it’s a huge discount.

You also want to look into an all inclusive type package usually offered at resorts or on cruises. This can save you a ton of money when it comes to eating during your stay. All inclusive is just that, your flight may not be included but everything else is including your accommodations, food, entertainment and some even have sightseeing tours that are included. It may seem expensive at the beginning but when you look or add up all the amenities offered you’ll find you save a bundle.

Of course, you may also want to look into booking your travel plans way in advance, this means a year or more. The earlier you book, the better the deal. At the other end of the spectrum is taking advantage of last minute bookings. These last minute deals are often offered at huge discounts as a package that is paid for is better than no package at all.

You have to be flexible for these types of discounts and you may not find two tickets on the same flight, or be able to sit together for the show. If this bothers you, keep an eye out for the last seats or tickets and grab them before they’re gone.

There are many different types of travel discounts available in the Canadian provinces, you just need to look a bit. Remember to look before you plan to take advantage of the best discounts. Look for last minute deals and specials, and take advantage of any affiliates or memberships you may have and of course, for huge savings, look to all inclusive packages. Also, look into booking as early as possible or be flexible and take the last ticket or last seat on the flight.

The Visitor’s Guide To Toronto

by Adriana Noton on January 6, 2010

If you are thinking about vacationing in Canada, the best place to go would be Toronto, the capital of Ontario. It is a beautiful city which, in more ways than one, is the leader of all Canadian cities. It is certain the economic leader, it has the most famous sports teams, and it has amazing scholastic endeavors and technological production. Despite all of this (and its two and a half million person population), it is still a quiet city at heart.

The great thing about Toronto is its advanced way of thinking. The whole city is known for being especially liberal. It helps, too, that the city is so diverse. The crime rates are ridiculously low and the city is very clean and ecologically aware. It has made more than one ‘Top Ten’ list for the world’s best cities.

I would not recommend moving here, however, if you are looking for the extreme bustle of a city like New York. Toronto does not have the same type of crowded population or excitement. It is a more laid-back, wintry city with lots of country influences. It is on two rivers and has very good access to the country, with plenty of parks and recreational trails.

It is home to several famous sites. The city is very diverse in its style of architecture. Where a city like Bruges is primarily focused around one central motif from one period in its history, Toronto is far more sprawled. The CN Tower, a futuristic looking building, is one of the tallest buildings in the world. The art gallery of Ontario is far more subtle in its modernity, a subtle and posh classic structure. The Distillery District is well maintained from the Victorian Era.

The city has plenty of districts, too, which is nice for travelers to help them find their way to different attractions. The industrial areas are great and definitely deserve a look. The beach and port areas by the water are lovely, especially in summer, and the fashion areas provide a lot of shopping.

The parks and beaches are lovely, too. Since there are so many beaches, you will not find yourself crowded out in the summer. There are plenty of water sports to play and a lot of sun to be had. As for parks, the best kept city secret is Cloud Gardens, which is a semi-enclosed park with an observatory. Many people do not even know it exists.

The city may not have a focus, but the culture is very strong. It is a surprisingly good area for actors and film makers. Film festivals are everywhere here. Actor Mike Meyers hails from Toronto, but apart from him, who knew it was such a good place for film? There are acting schools everywhere which provide good training. One of their Shakespeare companies is among the world’s greatest. They have a city ballet to rival those in New York.

It is no secret that Toronto is a huge sports capital, more so than perhaps any American city. The reason for it is this: they have five sports teams, each huge in their own areas. They have hockey, for which Toronto is most famous. They also have baseball, football, soccer, and basketball. The Toronto Maple Leafs, the hockey team, make up for a huge proportion of the commerce and tourism there and are a truly talented team.

There is a lot that goes on in the City of Toronto, and a Toronto association has a lot to offer. There are also many contractors Toronto to assist you with any projects that you have.
