California is home to some of the world’s hottest tourist spots. It is the cradle of entertainment, the all famous Hollywood and it definitely would not come in mediocre when talking about amusement parks which include Disneyland and Sea World. Needless to say, a place like this is thronged with the best hotels. The hotels come in great and may even house famous stars so whether you’re paparazzi or not you will surely love staying in California hotels.

It is just expected that these hotels with lots of celebrities are expensive. It’s not a good idea to stay in these hotels when you intend to visit and stay in California for a week or two. Even if it is a business trip or the like. Although these hotels can provide great services, still it is expensive for some people. Skiing And Snowboarding In Big Bear Lake California, USA

by Keith Causey on March 1, 2010

What do you think of when you think about Southern California? I bet the word sunny comes to mind. How about the word sand or flip flop? Certainly those are images that come up as well. But, would you think of snow and winter sports? Not many people would. However, there is plenty of it in the second largest state. Northeast of San Bernardino, there is a place called Big bear Lake. And, there is plenty of skiing and snowboarding in Big Bear Lake California.

Nearly 7,000 feet above sea level sits mountainous beauty. It’s beauty is comparable to any place on earth. There are seven miles of lake bordered by highway 38 to the north, and highway 18 to the south, winding along 22 miles of shoreline. Corralling Big Bear Lake are 4 snow-covered mountain peaks. Where could a more beautiful sight be found for skiers, vacationers and admirers alike?

Snow lovers can choose from any of the 4 mountain tops and indulge to their hearts delight in passionate snowy sports. Beginners through experts can traverse the 1700 vertical feet accessing 75 trails using one of 20 lifts. For some slops 4 high speed chains will help you get to the height you want to reach to do your skiing and snowboarding.

You will certainly remember your time skiing and snowboarding in Big Bear Late California. The ski runs are groomed as well as any on Earth. If you don’t or can’t ski or snowboard, there are plenty of other winter sports and activities to occupy your time. Tours to scenic areas are available if you want to strap on some snow shoes and take a walk.

When you are done skiing or whatever you are doing in the snow, you can visit one of the many other attractions available. At your disposal are many fun things for adults and children. There is a zoo called Moon Ridge Zoo. But, unlike many zoos this is actually an animal rescue and hospital. If a wild animal is injured, it is brought here for treatment and recovery. If the animal cannot return to the wild, it lives out its days in the zoo. Everyone will love visiting this place.

You may be the best skier in the world, but at some point you too will wear down and need to rest. At Big Bear Lake, you can go indoors to many places and sit by the fire in cozy furniture and create a new set of memories. There is not much better feeling than coming in from the cold to a warm fireplace, a big chair and some hot apple cider. But, don’t think even that is all there is to do in this place.

Some resorts offer babysitting and child care. In many cases, these services can be utilized on and off the slops, allowing for skiing and snowboarding without worrying if the kids are being properly cared for.

After a day on the slopes, and before snuggling into a warm bed, gourmet dining is also available. Then, finish off the night with professional theater productions. When this winter vacation is done, all your vacation conversations will be about skiing and snowboarding in Big Bear Lake California.

The San Bernardino Mountains, Northeast of San Bernardino is a place made by Mother Nature for snowy holidays, getaways and eating great food at Big Bear Lake Restaurants. We have got the ultimate info on the tastiest restaurant menu

Trapped In the East Bay

by Nelson Pellew on February 24, 2010

When a lad with scarcely a clue arrives on foreign shores he must, like Blanche DuBois, rely on the inevitable kindness of strangers. And like that hothouse flower, I (being the lad) has to struggle to keep my fragile sanity intact as I was besieged on all fronts by something I hadn’t expected, but had been warned about: the friendliness of the Americans. Being English — and I only say this as a point of fact — we are raised believing the only place the Yanks will be civil is in the hinterland.

My expectations of a cold, heartless “big city” welcome fell to the wayside when I stumbled out of the SFO shuttle. Somehow, I still can’t recall how, I had managed to bypass the heart of the airport and was transported to a fairly robust urban center. I would come to find out this was South San Francisco. At the time, I thought I had arrived on the outskirts of the City itself. Little did I know I was still within a stone’s throw of the airport.

As I made my rounds at the San Francisco airport hotels, searching for a front desk clerk who would accept pounds Sterling as payment, I was struck by how breathtaking the area was. if this was merely a city some fifteen minutes from the actually City, I was filled by a strange sense of anticipation and dread. I likened the feeling to smiling too often, and for too long — after a bit you being to look and feel like a psychopath.

From the comfort of my newly acquired room, I was mesmerized by the seeming coziness of the Bay Area. It seemed to me one could easily jaunt across the Bay, into say Berkeley or Piedmont, have a cuppa and then hop over to Sausalito for a bit of sightseeing and then be in San Jose for lunch. To my chagrin, this was far, far from the case. In fact, simply crossing the Bay was strenuous enough to constitute a day’s work. had I the capital, I would have simply stayed the night.

My first day in the Bay Area was eventful, as indeed I did cross over to the East Bay (comprising Berkeley, Oakland and all points east of the bay). I disembarked from the metro (known locally as the BART) and found myself thrust into the bustling, fashionable center of Berkeley — or was it Oakland. There is always some overlaying of the cities and often it occurs at particularly fashionable streets. I had much to learn and an entire day trapped in the East Bay to learn it.

If you find yourself at the doorstep of any of the fine San Francisco airport hotels, you can be assured you are in good company and in even better care.

Key Employment For A Los Angeles Electrician

by Todd Anderson on February 8, 2010

Expecting one quote from a Los Angeles electrical contractor to be exactly the same as another is not going to happen. Different electricians have different specialities although they should be roughly around the same price range. A comparison made and a few questions asked as to why the difference and the person hiring will have to choose one tradesman for the job.

The chosen tradesman should have a license and you as the responsible person using the service, will have to check that it is legitimate. And the workers have to be insured. This will cover you for any liability if an accident occurs while they’re on the job.

Fully trained technicians are happy to deal with the little things around the home that are dangerous for anybody without the proper training in electrical safety procedures. This includes installation of ceiling fans which is popular in the hot summer months, and of light fixtures that need to be wired up correctly. Electricians do a significant amount of work around the city that is relied upon in daily life.

When in training they will choose an area to dedicate themselves to. This can be in house wiring, domestic devices or testing electric elevator mechanisms. Some areas are in construction, suburban housing, and business zones.

Being environmentally conscious is being conscientious to people living in the community too. Electricians can give advice on how to save money in the home in simple ways. Choosing to install motion sensor lights in and around the home will mean none will be left on accidentally when you have to run out all of a sudden. Keeping light bulbs and light fixtures dusted regularly so they are dust free means they will not become dimmed so are more efficient in the home.

A Los Angeles Electrician take pride in their work and are highly skilled technicians. As professional tradesmen they follow safety procedures and ensure all work will pass any tests that may be carried out. Workmanship is assured as technicians have many years of experience in the field.

Planning Your Next Vacation

by Pablo Cox on December 21, 2009

Planning your next vacation can be as easy as 1, 2, 3. That’s right, planning your next vacation can be simple with free travel brochures. If you have a place in mind you want to spend your next vacation, you can log on to the internet and find free travel guides. They have them for almost any destination in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

You can order several different free travel brochures that will help you decide on where to take your next vacation. Southern Utah was my place of choice for my last vacation. I have never been there bought was always intrigued with the pictures I saw in magazine and books. I ordered several different travel guides from a website that I found. I heard that Utah was pretty boring, but after finding all the stuff you could do there I would have to disagree.

If you have ever stayed at a hotel in a popular tourist destination I am sure that you have seen the kiosk that they have with all the different pamphlets and brochures of all the different attractions in the area. These are good if you are already on vacation, but what if you don’t know where to go? You could use one of those kiosks at your local super market.

Ordering travel guides online is probably the easiest way of planning your vacation ahead of time. For me, an itinerary is a must when traveling. I hate wasting time arguing on what to next and figuring out how to make everyone happy. If you plan ahead, you can eliminate these arguments.

There are several different things to see in this great country and great places to visit. The history of this country is really awesome and too sees some of the sites is a lot of fun. Our trip to Sandusky, Ohio last year led us on a cross country tour and we passed through a lot of great sites, including my girlfriend’s favorite, the bridges of Madison County.

We also used this site for my little brother. He had to do a state report. That wouldn’t be so hard but his state was Maine. There is nothing wrong with Maine, we just didn’t know much about it. We found several brochures that were very insightful. He cut pictures out of them and pasted them to a poster board.

The World Wide Web is here to stay and is becoming more readily available with mobile phones. Having everything at your fingerprints has become handier than having ten different maps and brochures. One may wonder why go with travel brochures. The reason is because as cool and handy as technology it can be pretty unreliable. What happens if you have a map on your phone but can’t access it because you don’t have reception? I would have missed a lot of cool stuff on my river trip last summer if I didn’t have printed maps and travel guides. I couldn’t get on bar of service out there.

Escape from the world and leave your technology at home next time you go on a vacation. You will be surprised how easy it is to find fun things to do with only a travel guides and your sense of adventure. And another thing, you won’t have to worry about carrying your charges with you and finding an outlet to plug in your phone.

Pablo Cox has used free travel brochures for almost every holiday he has taken in recent years. His last holiday landed him inCalifornia and he used his California travel brochures he got for free online.

Get Out of the SF Bay: Tiburon

by Fabain Toulouse on December 18, 2009

When you’re traveling through Northern California, travel no further than Tiburon. This lovely coastal city is rich in natural abundance and history. Though Miwok Indians had called the area home for thousands of years, it was not until 1775 that the city got its name. Tiburon, which means “shark” in Spanish, was named by Lt. Juan Manuel de Ayala when he anchored in the peninsula. In spite of its menacing name, the area is one of the most gorgeous places in the world.

If you plan to stay in any of the fine hotels in the region, you soon find out they take “customer service” to new heights of extravagance. Guests are privy to five-star rooms, a huge business center, daily newspapers, and free wireless Internet. Amenities like fresh fruit and cookies are not uncommon. The hotel interiors are warm and cozy, while the climate is perfect for almost any activity. Enjoy the striking sun decks and the beautiful ground level pool as well. There are also great poolside private cabanas where you can enjoy a midday snack — or maybe even a nap.

With a little steam in your engine, you can book a one-hour cruise around the magnificent San Francisco Bay. This fun trip takes you under the Golden Gate Bridge by way of Sausalito, past Angel Island, and around legendary Alcatraz Island. You can watch dolphins, sea lions, and even sharks and whales while on board. If you are looking for a bit more excitement, you can disembark at Pier 39 in San Francisco and take in the grand old city.

If you have the gumption to leave San Fran, you can sit down to a fabulous meal anywhere in the area. A local favorite in Tiburon, Three Degrees Restaurant is the newest full service bar and restaurant to open at the Lodge. Designed to be warm and cozy, the restaurant has both indoor and outdoor dining, with a rustic rough-hewn bar and a river rock decor. The food, prepared by Chef Daren Robey, is a delicious fusion of seasonal fair and savory flavor. It is interesting that Three Degrees is the only restaurant in the area that serves no trans fats.

Whether you need a relaxing get-away or you need some excitement, you can find it in Tiburon. The biking and hiking trails, ferry rides to the city, and access to the forests all make the Lodge the place to be when in the lush San Francisco area.

The Bay Area is a massive, unapologetic tourist’s dream. Book yourself into a hotel in Tiburon and get a new jump on the City by the Bay.

Fish Languages

by Myer Thompson on December 14, 2009

Other than the cheese we all love and adore, there are two things Monterey is known for: fish and languages. Granted, those are two very different things, but they have more in common than you think. Both fish and languages need one thing: places to study them. This is where Monterey excels — in fact, these are the two biggest things going for the old capital of California — schools.

I’m not sure what it is, but there’s a proliferation of colleges and universities in Monterey. Yes, it seems academia quickly filled the void left by the collapse of the regional fishing industry. At one point, not so long ago, Monterey was the canning capital of the west coast. Fishermen would flood Cannery Row (now a fashionable shopping and dining district) in an effort to get their goods canned and shipped to Eastern markets.

Not surprisingly, when the harbor reef collapse from a mixture of erosion and negligence, the fishing industry moved north, to San Francisco and eventually to Seattle. In its wake, though, Monterey became a center for oceanographic studies. In fact, the deepest sea trench is only miles off shore. Yes, there is the ubiquitous Sea World type of attraction at the Monterey Marine Aquarium, but it does offer an academic cut above your basic theme park.

The city become a marine research center, it became a linguistic Mecca. This may have developed in tandem. As more and more diverse nationalities migrated to Monterey to study marine life, the need for multi-lingual studies increased. So, indeed, it may be the case that of one hand washing the other. Now, the city is home to a handful of internationally recognized linguistic programs and curriculum.

The only way to fully appreciate the city is to book a room in any one of the Monterey hotels and spend a week or two taking in the sights. If you like scuba diving, you’re in luck — the city is home to one of the few scuba academies in the nation. Take a dive, swim with the fishes, then hop out and dry off in time for your French class. Sounds like the perfect place. Throw in some sumptuous cuisine and cafes, and suddenly its heaven.

Come, speak German to the fishes, and stay in a spiffy Monterey hotel. Bask in the former glory of this still teaming city — then go scuba diving.

LA-LA Land, Manhattan Sand

by Myer Thompson on December 11, 2009

There’s a lot of great things about Southern California: the sun, the sand, the surfing. It’s in our cultural heritage, our cultural perception that if it has anything to do with sun, sand, and surf, then it must be California. Most people don’t immediately conjure images of Hawaii or Miami — nope, that instant image plugs right into the So-Cal scene. This usually means Los Angeles. Of course, this probably has less to do with any inherent qualities and more to do with the fact all the cameras happen to be in Los Angeles.

This is the dirty little secret that drives our cultural perceptions about a great many things. But, sticking with this idea of beach culture and “California vibes” brings us back to LA. Sure, the old movie moguls moved out here because of the perpetually sunny weather. Yes, it was a great idea, but it was also a massive evasion. The moguls moved west to avoid copyright infringement suits back East. So, even in its inception, the movie industry was trying to balance practicality and evasion.

And we can’t forget about a quality that is all too human: laziness. Just because you want to make a movie set in Miami or the Bahamas doesn’t necessarily mean you have the money to fly there and shoot there. Here is how the LA basin comes in handy for make-belief. You take the camera and crew down to Manhattan Beach and pretend it’s the Bahamas or Africa or wherever. I think this get to something inherent in Southern Californian culture: make belief.

Pretending, projecting, and preening are all qualities associated with movie culture, otherwise known as Hollywood. So, it follows that LA and a culture of self-aggrandizement should go hand-in-glove. And so, since all the cameras and broadcasters are located in LA, the rest of the country — and the world — have come to think that LA is some kind of center. For what, is still debatable.

The only way to truly understand the reality of Los Angeles and its outlying suburbs and affiliates cities is to come live here. Yes, that is a harrowing proposition, but if you want to understand a culture, you must be immersed in it. Plan your stay for about two or three years. Any more and you’ll never leave, any less and you’ll think you should have stayed longer. The area has that kind of appeal. It lulls you into thinking you may be discovered just around the corner — even if you’ve never thought about acting in your life. It’s called LA-LA Land for a reason.

If you’re down LA way, be sure you take the time to visit Manhattan Beach, CA. Book a room, stay awhile and soak up those crazy vibes.
