Picnic Shamble: Suggestions, Perfect Timing and Venues

by Judielee Lawson on March 13, 2010

When my friends and I are planning to go on a picnic, we all start to assign stuff for a particular person to do. I always end up getting the part that picks out a place where to hold the picnic. We’ve been everywhere I can think of. We’ve been to the park and the last time we did, we had ants all over our plates in less that 15 minutes of playing hide and go seek behind the trees.

Well, the ants were also playing tag on what food to take over first. The greatest part is they chose to pursue over my plate first. My plate, which had a slice of pizza, blueberry cheesecake, hotdogs and macaroni salad, appeared as if it were a huge pile of red fire ants. If I didn’t pay a bunch of attention, the next thing I’ll be consuming will be soft food for having a fat lip. So shake the park off the list.

Just one of my buddies suggested that we check out a local mall and do our picnic at the food court benches. As if you ever will be able to still call that picnic if we do that. That is practically what we are doing in everyday. Drowning out on pizza and then later on, going to the arcade to get rid of several pounds with the interactive games they have there like Dance Dance Revolution (isn’t that a minimal bit 90’s?).

Anyway, the point is, we go to the mall almost just about every day. I want to set up a spot where we do not normally go and if we do, it will be an area where we will be looking forward to go to again after a number times. Besides, if we set up a big picnic cloth inside the mall and start a picnic group on the ground, we’d find ourselves in the mall’s administration office for scandal and misconduct in such a public venue and become the mall’s laughing stock.

So maybe we may attempt to have a picnic simply near the river. The only obstacle is we’d end up being the mosquitoes’ picnic food and obtain Dengue Fever instead of a memorable experience. Well, it shall be a very memorable experience. But of course, we don’t want to recall it that way. So we are staying out anywhere near the river as well. I virtually lost the battle on setting up the ideal place where to have our picnic when it suddenly hit me. Why not go to the beach? There exists a quiet side of the beach where no person really bothers to go to. It would certainly be a great way to have an exercise as well because it’ll be a spot that is not as accessible as the other beach front areas where you can just park your vehicle somewhere near.

A more uninhabited side would certainly be great. Walking to and from the place would be a superb way to delight in the breeze and the sound of the waves crashing against the shore. The authentic essence of going for a picnic is enjoying the destination, the food, and also the folks you are with anywhere.

Boracay Picnic: An Ideal Summer Escape

by Judielee Lawson on March 12, 2010

I’m pretty sure that people must’ve heard the place called Boracay in the Philippines by now. It’s a very popular place where the sun is shining brightly all year long, where the waves are perfect for surfing and the sand is as white as powder. With all that, it’s been a perfect place for tourists and beach goers for a swim or simply for a picnic. I prefer going there to do everything.

Seeing the turquoise water wash up by the seashore makes me want to go in to its crystal clear water and swim. I don’t just take a dip. I take a plunge and have fun for hours. While you are in the water, you could see the wide panoramic view of the beach with groups of men and women sunbathing, kids playing, a lot of folks are generally having a good and comforting massage while they take a snooze and what I notice is that plenty of folks usually are eating food that they brought along.

In case you are in a budget, I suggest that you give packed lunch a chance instead of buying food from the stores at the beach front because you’ll have a hard time looking for cheap food there. A lot of vendors usually charge double for their particular goods. I know. This happens everywhere and there is nothing we can do about it. Which is why I am telling you that it is smarter to pack your own food. In case you really don’t prefer carrying many stuff to the beach, then you can find numerous stores that don’t sell their products like you are paying for everything else. To be fair with the vendors, there happen to be a number who stick with the suggested retail price of their commodities and they keep it that way because folks buy from them. You can easily also provide a little thermos to maintain your hot coffee when you drink it at the shore.

It’s really very dramatic when you and your friends go on a picnic and you choose the beach as your picnic venue. Good memories as well as lasting ones are made in this tiny island. Once the sun is about to set, you’ll see everybody scampering to get their cameras ready to take photos of themselves and their loved ones with the sunset as the background. I have one of those, too.

It is a must for just about every vacationer who goes to Boracay to have their snap shots taken with the sunset. When the night hits the place, it is when the party starts. Well, the party normally starts even before the sun sets but the fire dancers come out at night to make it more exotic.

The beach front still has lights so you don’t have to worry that you won’t be able to enjoy your picnic because it’s dark. They’ll provide you with fire lamps that you can lay on the sand as you enjoy your picnic. Don’t worry. The beach picnic doesn’t end there. As long as you’re on vacation, you can have your picnics on the sand for as long as you like.

The Best Places In The World For A Beach Holiday

by Damian Papworth on March 11, 2010

When we think about where to go on our beach holiday there are lots of considerations to make, of course. One of the main ones will be budget and the distance of travel from where you live. As such certain tropical spots around the world might be largely off limits for you, unless it is that once in a lifetime trip that you have been waiting to go on. Taking all considerations out, lets think about some of the best places in the world for a beach holiday.

First of all, everyone knows that the Maldives offer up some of the most beautiful natural sites in the world. These islands have long played host to honeymoons and you can see why. Relaxing on your own little stretch of beach on an island that is only a few hundred metres around as the sun goes does is quite a romantic situation.

Secondly, the island of the South Pacific will also offer up some dazzlingly incredible beaches for you to enjoy. The island groups of Fiji and the Cook islands are all absolutely stunning and will more than take your breath away when you first see them.

Thirdly, Thailand and the beaches than line the coasts of Indochina are also very popular amongst tourists. One of the beauties about these great spots are the facts that it is so ludicrously cheap there. Getting there may cost you a bit, but once you are there the cost of living will be tiny and therefore you can live like an absolute king on a reasonable amount of money.

Fourthly, the stunning island group called the Whitsundays at the bottom of the Great Barrier Reef are also completely awesome. In particular, if you ever visit this region, you have to make sure that you see Whitehaven beach. If ever there was a beach that was designed for a postcard, this would certainly be it.

The list does continue on for as long as your arm and at the end of the day the main consideration you will have to make when choosing where to go will be what you want to do and the budget you have to work with.

These are only a few of the top beach holiday locations in the world. If you ever have the money to see these places, then it is certainly advisable to try to tick at least one of them off your list.

Now you can take advantage of all the benefits of a fabulous surf shop today! Visiting the online surf shop will give you the opportunity to prepare for your next vacation fast and easy!

Get a Taste of The New Rage In Adventure Sport-Kite Surfing

by Wil Cranston on February 17, 2010

The new craze reaping rave reviews from adventure sports lovers today is Kite surfing. It combines the thrill and skills of balancing one’s body on a surf or kite board together with the expertise of controlling a huge Kite surf Kite. The movement is dominated by the wind conditions prevailing at that time.

Why not find a good learning school to learn the basics and start off with this thrilling experience! So, ask around to find such a place where you’ll be taught the processes involved in landing and launching the kite as well as all the precautions and safety features to be kept in mind. As a next step, get a trainer kite to practice. This will enable you to catch on faster. Safety is of prime importance here and thankfully today, we have sophisticated gear which are tried and tested to ensure maximum security to the user.

Today, sophisticated technology has devised quality control systems and safety release equipment which ensures a high percentage of safety. The surfer hops onto a board which could be equipped with foot bindings according to his choice, and uses a huge controllable kite surf kite which pushes him along the waters.

A novice at the sport will do well to find a good learning school to learn the intricacies of the sport. Ask around locally to know which is the best place to enroll and gain skills on landing, launching etc. and much later you might even be taught certain tricks on the board which you can practice. The school will also teach you all the safety essentials. It’s also advisable to make your initial attempts with a trainer kite which would enable the learning process easier. But before trying out kite surfing, can you at least fly a kite? Now is the time to learn if you don’t know already.

‘Size’ matters here, i.e. the size of the kite should be chosen depending on the force of the wind. Experiment with smaller kites only if you are a skilled kite surfer able to battle strong winds. Gentle winds require bigger and more controllable kites. Be prepared for a number of failed attempts before you get the gist of the sport. Remember the controls lie in your hands and persevere to bring about a balance between the board and the kite to excel at the sport. The two types of kites generally used for this sport are Foil kites and Inflatable ones. The latter is preferred by most because of the ease it provides in launching and landing. The rider can have better control over it as well.

Almost every nook and corner of the world has kitesurfing activities. Most places will have provisions for learning facilities while expert surfers can go ahead and test the waters, since all equipment and facilities will be readily available here.

Kite surfing is indeed an interesting sport to pursue, even as a hobby. But never go slack on the safety measures involved. The wind is an unpredictable force therefore, be alert every little second and try to master upwind as well as downwind conditions. Keeping this in mind, go ahead and find a learning school to teach you the basics and muster up enough courage and self confidence to try out this exhilarating sport!

Join The Summer Fun With White Flip Flops

by Alexander Stone on February 13, 2010

If you were to take a flat piece of rubber and attach two strips at the back of the rubber and then take it length wise and join them at the front so that you could grip your toes with, then you just made your self the simplest form of foot wear. This invention of course is called the flip flop or sandals to some. They are an excellent choice to wear in hot weather.

Flip flops are also known by other names in different parts of the world, some names are sandals, thongs, slip slops and go ahead to name a few. The reason for flip flops being so popular is not only for their comfort but also they are generally very cheap. In many countries especially in the developing world you can find them for under a dollar.

In warmer countries flip-flops are treated as a year round foot accessory and people will wear them to work or around the house. But in colder climates they are treated more as a seasonal item especially for outdoors although it’s not uncommon for people to continue wearing them indoors. Flip flops do not generally last a long time, a few months at most and even if they break folks will rarely repair them, because flip flops are usually pretty cheap.

Nowadays because of environmentally conscious people, flip flops are being made from recyclable material, such as cotton, hemp and natural rubber. The earliest known use of flip flops are most probably in Japan and some native American tribes, but flip flops in the modern sense was invented in New Zealand, from there they spread to other parts of the world.

If you like the feeling of moving around bare foot but want some protection while doing so, then flip flops are the best choice. You can still get the open air foot feeling, while protecting the soles of you feet. White flip flops are in style nowadays because of their simple, clean and eye catching look.

The Charming Scenery In St. Thomas

by Sherrie Rawlings on February 11, 2010

When you are thinking about visiting somewhere that is nice and tropical during the very cold winter months, give some thought to St. Thomas, a gorgeous island that is located in the Caribbean Sea. There are so many great reasons why I love to visit this paradise as often as I am able to.

These are just some of the numerous reasons why you might decide to plan a trip to St. Thomas.

The beaches are beautiful. Do you like a calm, serene beach where the water is actually blue? Then look no further than the beaches of St. Thomas. There are many smaller ones, free of heavy tourist crowds, and these give you all of the relaxation you look for in a beach.

Great food is in abundance here as there are quite a lot of upscale restaurants with very talented chefs. If you get enjoyment from having well-prepared meals and gourmet food, the many distinctive restaurants that are on the island of St. Thomas will not disappoint you.

There is a nice blend of beaches and mountains due to the unique topography of this island. Now, you are not going to see, let’s say, the snow-capped mountains of the Rockies, but you will see some high points here with awesome views of the water.

Another convenient fact is that the native language on the island is English. It’s always easier to travel somewhere where you don’t have to communicate with people who speak a different language than you do. You’ll be happy to know that everyone there speaks perfect English.

The fact that no passport is required in order to go to the island is something that people like. St. Thomas is a part of the US Virgin Islands, which makes it an American destination. Therefore, you will not need any type of international identification or passport when you travel there.

Something to keep in mind when you are visiting here is that if you rent a car, remember that the cars drive on the left side of the road. This, as well as the fact that there are some pretty steep hills on the roads, can make driving here a little difficult.

The designs are numerous and all highly fashionable. There is thus no need for you to look like your great-grandmother during a beach outing. All the latest Italian styles are available; the only difference is that at the end of the day you will go home with a stunning all-over tan.

Another very likeable characteristic of this type of suit is the fact that they’re manufactured from a material that is very lightweight and consequently highly comfortable. You will therefore not feel as if you are wearing an armored suit dating from the middle ages.

Both men and women can now wear tan thru bathing suits. Females can choose between bikinis and one-piece suits, while for both gentlemen and ladies there are even tan-through shirts available.
