Black Legion: Plant employee Bogart, disheartened after losing a promotion to a colleague named “Dombrowski,” becomes engaged with a Ku Klux Klan type group. This commanding and still pertinent drama is well made. Cast includes Humphrey Bogart, Erin O’Brien-Moore, Dick Foran, Ann Sheridan, Joe Sauers (Sawyer), Helen Flint, Dickie Jones, and Henry Brandon. (83 minutes, 1936)

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone: On Harry’s eleventh birthday, he learns about who he is. He is the orphaned son of two very powerful wizards. He too has magical powers, and he is invited to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He is off on the biggest adventure imaginable.

The Geisha Boy: Jerry, an inept warlock, voyages to Japan with catastrophic repercussions. Imaginative graphic gags; there’s a cute pattern characterizing the Los Angeles Dodgers and, specifically, Gil Hodges. Cast includes Jerry Lewis, Marie McDonald, Sessue Hayakawa, Nobu McCarthy, Suzanne Pleshette, Barton MacLane, and Robert Hirano. (98 minutes, 1958)

Eyewitness: Smooth however unsatisfying thriller in regards to a creative janitor who uses his second-hand experience of an unsolved murder to get close to a female Television news journalist with whom he’s been infatuated. He has escaped from prison, and is headed back to Haddonfield with vengeance on his mind. Dr. Sam Loomis is frantically trying to track him down. He knows the true evil that exists in Michael.

Nightmare on Elm Street Four: Refreshed by flaming mutt urine, Freddy Krueger ultimately kills all the kids of those who initially burned him to death, and looks for new teenagers to terrorize, although he’s challenged by a “fantasy master,” his metaphysical counterpart. Series was showing its age by this point. Cast includes Renny Harlin, Robert Englund, Rodney Eastman, Danny Hassel, Andras Jones, Tuesday Horseman, Toy Newkirk, Ken Sagoes, Brooke Theiss, and Lisa Wilcox. (92 minutes, 1988)
